MY FAVORITE ADENIUM PLANT IN MY HOME
Common name: Desert Rose
Botanical Name:Adenium obesum
Family: Apocynaceae
Adenium or "Desert Rose" is an extraordinary tropical
plant. The 'obesum' name refers to the large fat base of the
plant. The plant looks like a Bonsai, though it is not one.
It is almost impossible to stay indifferent in front of this
plant. It is excellent in pots especially for people who
'kill everything' as the Adenium obesum lives with little
care and can take neglect. Adenium prefers to be kept in a
place where there is full sun. Adenium likes warm
temperature. As it is very prone to rotting, they require a
gritty, well-drained soil.
I and my family very like adenium plant. So, in my
home, there are many adenium plants. Start from small until
big adenium plant. But, only one adenium plant, just I like.
Because that my favorite adenium plant is very beautiful. I
always water all of my adenium every morning. Allow the
plant to dry between watering. Often the bases of the stem
become soft when the plant requires watering. Increase

watering when plants are in flower or actively growing.
Decrease watering in winter. Leaf drop in a common sign of
over watering. And also, I always to manure and to clean
disturbing plant (gulma) all of my adenium every month.
Adenium plant like as small tree, but have many flowers with
many kinds of the colour, variety, and kind.
That my favorite adenium lie in big (wide) oval white
pot, front terrace in the second floor my home. Adenium is a
succulent bush with thick fleshy branches. That my favorite
adenium have a tall 50 cm, very big root, big trunk,
branches, and have twigs. That root, trunk, branches, twigs
have green colour. The leaves are 3 to10 cm long, rather
thick, oval, the point is wide at their extremities, and
have rather old green colour. That my favorite adenium is
unique. Why? Because in one plant there are three different
kinds of the flowers colour, that is red (rose), pink, and
white. Usually in one kind of plant only have one kind of
the flower color. Because that my favorite adenium that is
result from cutting / setek, with the other adenium kinds.
So, can getting those different kinds of the flowers colour.
The plant flowers during the warm months. The flowers are in
shades of pink, rose, rose white or white. They are
beautiful 2 inch pink open-trumpet shaped flowers. That in
my favorite adenium there are four fruits / seeds candidate
(bakal buah/biji). The shape is long, oval, the point is
sharp and the color is green. If already ripe, and then
picked, and open that seed candidate. So, there are many
small flat seeds and the colour is old brown.
