Notes for Adam Bone:Adam, age 9, was living in Noble, Jay County, Indiana during the 1860 census with his mother Anna and sisterMary A. He was living in the Fred Judy household where his mother was working as housekeeper. The last nameis spelled Berne.

During the 1870 census of Jay County, Indiana, Adam, age 18, was living in the town of Noble in the FrederickJudy household where he was working as a farm laborer. The last name seems to be spelled Bornen. Thehousehold consisted of Frederick Judy, Anna Bornen, Adam Bornen and Christina Ruckweek.

Adam and Sarah were married by Jacob Tucker, JP.

Adam, called Adam Boon and 30 years old, and Sarah, age 29, were living in District 5 of Grundy County duringthe 1880 census with their son Samuel age 1. Adam's mother, Anna, age 53, was also living with them. Thiscensus states Adam was born in Ohio and both his parents were born in Switzerland.

According to Clara Bone Landon, after the death of Sarah, her sister, Easter Nunley, took the children and raisedthem in the Flat Branch area of Grundy County.

By the time of the 1900 census, Sara had died and Adam had remarried. He, age 48, and Lizzie, age 39, wereliving in Gruetli with thier 6 children, Jessey age 7, Larence age 6, Eddy age 5, George age 2, Allamiche age 1and Mabel, a newborn baby. They were living next door to John Scholer.

Adam's death certificate #31992 states he was married, was a farmer, was born in Indiana, and his death date wasJan. 18, 1910 caused by "slow fever" at Gruetli. The Ike Woodward Chronicles stated in Dec. 1909 "Adam Bonedied at Gruetli."

Adam's tombstone states his birthdate was 1850.

Thefatality victim, Anthony Ferrell Layne, 26, died around 1 p.m. July 3, MSHA reported. He was working in a mineoperated by BW&L Coal Company, a Palmer firm of which his father, Norman Layne, is part owner, MSHA said.At this time it appears Mr. Layne was killed while he was operating a battery-powered scoop", a MSHA officialsaid in Jasper earlier this week. A complete report on the accident is pending, the official added.

Farrell's obit reads:"Anthony Farrell Layne, 26, of Gruetli-Laager died July 3 from injuries suffered in a miningaccident. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Services were Saturday afternoon in the funeral homechapel with the Rev. James Roberts officiating. Burial was in Fall Creek Cemetery. Mr. Layne was preceded indeath by a son, Anthony N. Layne. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Campbell Layne; son, Joshua F. Layne;parents, Norman and Helen Caldwell Layne; and brother, Darrell Layne, all of Gruetli-Laager; a sister, RejenaLayne of Jasper; and Maternal grandmother, Ruby Caldwell of Gruetli-Laager. Arrangements were by the NorthChapel of Foster and Son Funeral Home in Gruetli-Laager."
