ENGLISH FOR ADULTS
The English for Adults Program aims at the progressive and accumulative development of the four basic skills of communication and competencies necessary to interact in a variety of situations using English as the means of
communication.
The complete program consists of 1 beginner level, 13 basic and intermediate levels and 3 optional advanced levels. Each level is 50 hours.
At the end of the program, students will be able to:
• Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity allowing effective communication in the English language.
• Use communication strategies necessary in a multicultural society.
• Apply learning strategies that will help them become autonomous in the acquisition and maintenance of the English language.

Beginner Level: The objective of this English course is to familiarize the student with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading and writing in the English language.
Level 1: This level has been designed for students with a basic knowledge of the language. The course facilitates the learning of English through the introduction of grammar points and vocabulary in texts and activities that develop the four linguistic skills.
Level 2: This level 2 course is the second step on the way to an elemental knowledge and use of the English language. In this course, the use of basic structures of the language is built upon.
Level 3: This is the final level of the elementary phase. At this time, the students will have gained a number of skills that allow then to express their ideas in a clear simple manner.
Level 4: This is the first course in the pre-intermediate cycle. In this level students start developing higher oral sufficiency, reinforce grammar and increase their vocabulary.
Level 5: This second level of the pre-intermediate cycle strengthens oral interaction and the use of vocabulary with a greater degree of complexity as well as gaining more understanding of grammatical structures.
Level 6: This is the last level of the pre-intermediate cycle and serves as the moment to consolidate everything learnt during the previous courses.
Level 7: This course has been designed to strengthen listening and speaking skills preparing students for the intermediate levels.
Level 8: This course constitutes the beginning of the Intermediate cycle. At this level the students start developing a more solid command of the language.
Level 9: During this course students are presented with more complex linguistic functions that will help them interact in a variety of situations.
Level 10: This course aims to fine-tune students’ free expression both orally and in writing.
Level 11: This is the first level of the high intermediate cycle. Students will have the opportunity to reinforce vocabulary and grammar knowledge seen in previous levels and the possibility of improving and developing more complex communicative skills.
Level 12: In this second course of the high intermediate cycle, students will strengthen their knowledge of the language by way of constant practice, with typical life situations from English speaking countries.
Level 13: This is the last course of the high-intermediate level. Students will be able to communicate with greater fluency, appropriate grammatical use and a wide use of vocabulary
Levels 14-16: Advanced levels students will be able to successfully negotiate any situation in which English is the medium of communication. Grammar is reviewed, vocabulary is broadened and a distinction is made between colloquial and formal language so that students can interact successfully in English.
