SUBSEA & SPLASH ZONE COATINGS
Contracted by V&D Engineering, Oceanic Offshore Pty Ltd successfully completed pile protection works on Water Corporation’s desalination plant seawater intake jetty at King Bay, Dampier Port in Western Australia.
The Seashield 2000FD system was selected to provide a minimum protection of 6.2m(L) on 10 marine piles, each with a diameter of 610mm. The project involved cutting pre-measured circular holes into the Seashield HDPE outer sheet to accommodate threaded studs welded into each pile in order to provide continuity for sacrificial anodes. Densyl Mastic was applied around each stud prior to installing the HDPE sheet in order to form moulded barriers on two stud locations on each of the pile’s anodes.
A highly successful outcome was achieved with the Denso Marine Piling Tape expertly applied (with a 55% overlap) and the contractors achieving perfect jacket alignment around all the piles.
