    Deputy Superintendent of Instruction

    Annual Salary: $250,000 plus competitive benefits

    ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking an accomplished and visionaeducator with considerable experience aligning student and school needs with theresources that ensure academic success. LAUSD is recruiting for a passionate and skileader to foster dynamic learning environments for every student and school.

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    Leads the Superintendents efforts to ensure that instructional strategies and suppo

    generate student and school academic achievement.

    Provides leadership and facilitates success among the five Educational Service Cent

    Superintendents to develop, achieve, and create the best possible learning experienfor all students.

    Integrates the overall instructional program and activities of schools and centers byaligning all available District resources to achieve the most efficient and effectiveeducation possible for all students.

    Establishes and maintains significant avenues of communication with school

    communities, encouraging feedback and facilitating for its assessment, growth, anddevelopment.

    AT A MINIMUM CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:

    Ten years of successful full-time certificated service in a public school system

    Five years of successful full-time service in a management position

    A valid California Administrative Services Credential

    An earned Masters degree Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan requirements

    (Out-of-District candidates have one year to complete this requirement.)

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    Expert knowledge of Common Core Standards and technology, current instructiona

    programs, Educator Growth and Development Cycle, A-G graduation strategies, urbschool innovations, and student needs in the area of instruction.

    Ability to support the instructional needs of English learners, Standard English

    learners, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities,students identified as gifted, adult learners, and other students of various languageand cultures.

    Successful experience in unifying, motivating, developing, supporting, andempowering administrators, principals, teachers, and support staff to succeed.

    Strategic and tactical in thinking, problem solving, and use of data to inform decisio

    Ability to cope with crisis situations and to make immediate decisions.

    Excellent public relations, facilitation, and written communication skills.

    Ideal personal characteristics to work effectively with students, District personnel,

    and community representatives.
