Deployable Space Structures

Deployable structures are folded up during launch, and

unfurled to their full dimensions once in space.

Examples: solar arrays, antennas, reflectors, instrument

masts, gossamer sails, etc.

Deployable structures have unique and often contradictory

requirements, providing very interesting structural

challenges.
