DepEd processing performance-based bonuses for 410k teachers, personnel

Nearly 410,000 teachers and Department of Education personnel are due to get their performance-based bonuses soon, the DepEd said Wednesday.

In a news release posted on the Official Gazette website, the DepEd said those who will receive the bonus includes teachers, non-teaching personnel, and teaching-related personnel.

The DepEd said it submitted the first batch of validated reports required for the release of the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) last July 12.

"The Inter-Agency Task Force will take around a week to process the documents, after which the bonuses would be downloaded to the Regional or Division offices," it said.

A second batch of reports "is expected to be completed and submitted to the Task Force soon."

The first batch of 409,725 beneficiaries are from 29,284 schools in 145 divisions.

"Bonuses range from P5,000 (satisfactory) to P35,000 (exceptional)," it said.

Also, the DepEd said its employees who are recipients of national awards such as Literacy Awards and national awards from the Civil Service Commission and Metrobank Foundation in FY 2012 are already guaranteed beneficiaries of the maximum amount of P35,000.

The PBB is based on Executive Order 80 and seeks to reward government employees based on their performance, to promote greater accountability in the public sector. — DVM, GMA News
