The DoMS MBA programme follows trimester pattern and imparts in-depth knowledge in the crosscuts of all academic areas. A highprofile Board of Studies periodically reviews and updates the syllabi based on the changing needs of business environment and bringsit for the approval of the Senate. The programme covers 32 courses spread over modules of 10 weeks each and a summer project of 8weeks, over a period of two years.

The OCTAGON - Computer Center is the sterlinghallmark of this campus. This center serves thecampus-wide LAN in close association with theuser departments. This LAN caters to totally 6000users across the campus (1600 users at thesame time using Wired connection and theremaining users through Wireless) and has a 10Gbps fiber optic backbone. It also acts as aresource centre to supplement classroominstructions with laboratory sessions.

The Institute has a modern Central Library withmore than two and half lakhs of documentsconsisting of Technical books, reports,standards, CD-ROMS, Audio Visual EducationalCassettes and back volumes of journals. Thelibrary subscribes to 164 periodicals (print) plus5000+ e-Journals and 600+ e-books besidesa holding of 17690 back volumes of journals.The library also contains 1,67,500 books in theBook Bank scheme.

Think lateral, innovative and realistic were the scintillating elements of the Google Start-upWeekend at NIT Trichy. The event saw 69 creative ideas from all round the nation, addressinguntapped needs turning them into innovative business models. The students of DoMS NITTrichy bagged the first runners up position with their idea School Counsellor among otherideas such as Fashion Hub, Velociti, Cashless Campus, MosquitoCopters, etc. With mentorslike Mr. Mrinal Kumar, Co-founder Navriti Technologies,Vandana Sharma, VP HR, Myntraand Sridhar S, Director, Dell the ideas were moulded and shaped into products with finesse.

Chanakya is the flagship event of 14th MMA All India Management Students’ Conventionorganized by Madras Management Association (MMA) to select the best potential managerof 2015 amidst management students all over India. DOMS made its presence clear as topmanagement institute by contributing 3 out of 40 pre finalists and 2 among the top 12 fromover 4000 registrants selected by management experts.

An intra-department sports meet is held toinculcate in the minds of budding managersteam work, competition and mutual respect.

Solving a Case Study for Akshaya Patra (one of the leading NGOs), our DoMS studentsChandan Raj and Shriya secured the first place at Yukti, an event of IIM Trichy's symposiumArcturus 4.0. They competed against students from several premier B-schools like IIMTrichy, IIM Bangalore, BIM and Wellingkar Institute of Management. The event was judgedby the Senior Manager, Client servicing, of Akshaya Patra who made a special mention ofthe duo for the research work they had worked on to enhance the NGO's marketing strategy.

HumaNITTy is an umbrella organisation of NIT Trichy whichembeds the social responsibility within and brings in togetherness to reach out for acause. The 4th Edition saw the students of DoMS taking up lead volunteering roles inhosting events such as ‘Gala for kids’, Rangoli, Face Painting, etc. ‘Daan Utsav’ wascelebrated spiritedly among the underprivileged kids and the aged.

The Skill Enhancement Program organised by the Students and Faculty of DoMS sawThought Leaders, Senior HR Managers, Career Consultants, Psychiatrist, PracticingManagers, Successful Entrepreneur and Academicians address the gathering about thenecessary life skills required to face the job market. A successful campaign by DoMS,the program served as an enticing experience to all the budding managementprofessionals present.

Student Clubs and Committees

The classroom routine in the department of management studies has beenremarkably supplemented with various student clubs and activities. Theseclubs provide opportunities to the students to broaden their horizon andperspective on one hand and to develop personal qualities and skills on theother.

A B-school is incomplete without any expression or rather a platform for expression. Abhivyakti whichaptly stands for the meaning “expression” in Hindi is a trimonthly magazine. This magazine is completelyauthored and structured by the bright minds of DoMS. It is the ideal platform for the budding managersto express their acumen in management. This magazine incorporates different articles written by in-houseresearchers and writers. The magazine includes articles written by the industry stalwarts. The interviewsand experiences shared by the alumni take them into their nostalgic days.

“16 Anna” stands for one rupee and symbolizes completeness or 100 percent and aptly chosen as thename of the magazine which covers the ‘Economosphere’. The information in the magazine is presentedin such a manner that it will be helpful to make informed conversation and communicate the language oftechnology and business with equal ease. Divided into 22 sections spread over 24 pages which cover theentire spectrum of financial world’s happenings, the idea is to notify the readers with business and economyrelated news along with acquainting with Business models of the companies, its promoters, marketingstrategies, organizational structure and the likes.

Societal commitments, entrepreneurial spirits, and cultural magmas haveto be nurtured and inculcated as a manager. SEC club promotes andconstantly endeavors towards this cause. The club conducts events withthe entrepreneurs of start-up firms. A manager can be a complete humanonly when he cares for the society as well.

An in-house club initiated by the 37th Batch of DoMS, NITT, theRegimen Club conducts weekly group discussions, debates,business quizzes, mock interviews, that aim to provide an overalldevelopment of the student in terms of professionalcommunication skills, team building and team management.Students are equipped to face interviews thanks to the enterpriseof the club.

The world keeps getting smaller and yet the market keeps getting bigger. It is thereforeimportant to build bridges at the right places. A novel initiative, DoMS-NIT studentshave formed a peer learning language group where Arabic, Spanish and German are thetalk of the day.

The Finance Club of DoMS NITT - Vittiya is a significant student driven initiative withmembers having varied backgrounds and experiences thereby adding to the overallquality of Knowledge sharing. The club intends not only to impart subjective, staticconcepts of Finance but more importantly to enable members to understand andappreciate its dynamic elements, implications and their applicability and impact inthe practical world. Periodic Quizzes and Finance related games are conducted tostimulate interest and educate the students about the modus operandi of the financialsystem.

Marketing is the imperative Link that connects customer needs with creative solutions. Nisadya, named after the Sanskrit Word for‘Market Place’, focuses on equipping the budding marketers with the ever changing marketing and related disciplines. ‘Nisadya’ aimsto enable students build their marketing acumen by learning about practicalities of marketing through real life examples.
