You are invited to attend the interview (as per the schedule mentioned above) through “Google Meet”

videoconferencing. It is mandatory to go through the instructions regarding the rules, regulations, and

the use of videoconferencing. Please visit department webpage (http://chemistry.iitd.ac.in) frequently

for any updates. Before appearing in the interview please ensure that you meet the shortlisting criteria.

General instructions for online interview:

1. Interview will start from 9.00 AM onwards every day with a lunch break from 1.00 PM – 2:30

PM.

2. Desktop or laptop computer or smart phone with good quality camera can be utilized for the

interview. Make sure that your device is configured with good internet speed.

3. Check your slot in the interview schedule in the Chemistry Department website.

4. Each interview would typically be ~15-20 min long, thus you are suggested to be online at least

30 mins before your interview.

5. As we are handling a large number of applications, no extra time slot will be provided to you

if you are not able to connect to us with in your designated time slot.

6. You have to be in an isolated room during the time of interview and once you are connected to

the examiners, you have to show them through your device that nobody is present in that place.

7. During interviews via videoconferencing, candidates are not supposed to record the

proceedings of the interview or indulge in any malpractice during the course of the interview.

In case violation of any of this is found at a later date, then it may lead to cancellation of the

admission.

Academic Units may however record the interview, if desired, using the videoconferencing

software, for future record and reference, in case the Academic Unit decides to record the

interview.

8. You should be have blank papers and pen ready with you as examiners might ask you to

explain some mechanism or to derive some equations.

9. You will receive a link through your email on the day of interview either at 8.30 AM (for

morning interview slots) or at 2.00 PM (for afternoon slots). You can appear in the interview

by clicking on that link.

10. You will receive a phone call just before your interview to apprise you to click on the link or

you might be instructed for some other process. (Please do not click the link until you get a

phone call from a committee member)

11. A setup as shown in the picture below is suggested in case you are asked to write

something on the paper. An arrangement like this will enable the interview committee

to see you write on the paper in the absence of a board.

(Note the mobile phone should be kept at a required height of about 6 inch by using a stack of books

while running the Google Meet app through the rear camera)

12. We will be using Google Meet for the online interview. If you are using a

desktop/laptop, the link mailed to you will directly take you to the video chatting page

(you may need to sign in with your Google account). If you are using a mobile, you

need to download an app (Google Meet) from the Play/App store. Please enable your

audio and video before entering the chatroom.

eligible under OBC (non-creamy layer) with the above short-listing criteria, you can appear for the

interview with relevant documents.

$All candidates, whether M.Sc. or M.Tech, must have M.Sc. in Chemistry or

Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Material Science/Chemistry or related discipline.

NOTE:

• If the candidate has JRF (CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/Inspire) and M.Sc., B.Sc. marks as

mentioned above in the table, he/she qualifies for the interview.

• The candidates, if successful in the recently awaited CSIR/UGC-NET etc examination, may

appear for interview provided they fulfil the above short-listing criteria.

• Candidates, whose M.Tech./ M. Pharm./M.Sc. results are not yet declared, will be

provisionally short-listed for the interview, provided they have secured the necessary

aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in the results declared so far for the qualifying degree.

• Candidates with CSIR/UGC-LS are NOT qualified for the Ph.D. entrance interview.

• Requirement of qualification in GATE / National Exam is waived for the following categories

of applicants:

(i) Currently registered students in Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) pursuing

B.Tech./B.E./ Integrated M. Tech/ Integrated M. Sc. Programmes (or any other

programme of minimum four year duration, admission to which is on the basis of JEE),

who have completed 6 semesters or more, and have CGPA of 8.00 or above (on a 10 point

scale). Such students must obtain a CGPA of 8.00 or above at the time of graduation, and

before they formally register for the Ph.D. programme (80% aggregate marks, if marks are

the primary mode of evaluation);

(ii) Graduates of CFTIs (in the programmes marked under (i)) with a final graduation CGPA

of morethan 8.00 (80% aggregate marks, if marks are the primary mode of evaluation);

(iii) M.Sc. graduates from IITs with CGPA 8.00 or above

• Admission on a Part-Time (PT) basis will be as per Institute norms. An additional short-listing

criteria is 60% or 6.0 CGPA in B.Sc. and 60% or 6.0 CGPA in M.Sc. PT candidates do not

require GATE qualification. There will be no admission on a self-sponsored basis, and there

will be no direct admission to the above programme.
