MESSAGE FROM THE VICE CHANCELLORIt is indeed my great pleasure to contribute a message for the first News Letter of Department of Chemical Engineering of our University.

Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering & Technology was established in 1964, graduating the first Batch of Chemical Engineers in 1968. Since then our graduates have excelled in the field both nationally and internationally.

I am very proud to see the Department of Chemical Engineering achieving a new paradigm. It has turned into one of the most vibrant Departments of our University buzzing with Academic and Researc activities. It is a very humbling experience to bring about the change in our University which is discernible to the outside world, specially our Alumni, who have expressed their warm feelings on many occasions and are pleased to witness the change.

The News Letter of Department of Chemical Engineering is a manifestation of the hard work put in by the team of the Department. I wish to congratulate all for this initiative and would like to see other Departments follow the lead.

Dr. Faizullah Abbasi

MESSAGE FROM CHAIRPERSONIt always provides immense pleasure to share activities and achievements of the department. I am pleased to share with you our first quarterly newsletter. In this newsletter, we made every effort to briefly highlight latest activities of the department. Our team consisted of faculty members and undergraduate students accomplished amazing work by organizing different activities including technical symposium, workshops, seminars, guest lectures and industrial visits. The formation of AIChE-DUET student chapter is the mark hall of this quarter, which is aimed to provide forum for providing opportunities to students to discover their latent acumen providing them a thoroughly fulfilling experience. Here I would also like to acknowledge the commitment, dedication and talent of the AIChE-DUET student chapter. The credit for the transformation in DUET goes to Dr. FaizullahAbbasi, Vice Chancellor. Dr Faizullah’s esteemed leadership brought extreme positive changes to the University. This predominantly includes Peace and Stability in Campus.

Organizing Symposium, Training Workshop on Research Methodology and publications of research articles in Web of Science cited impact factor as well as local journals during last quarter demonstrate the visible impact of the strengthening the academic front. Furthermore, the induction of new faculty members in faculty rank has almost transformed the faculty with postgraduate qualifications.

I hope and wish that these cohesive efforts insha Allah would be moving with determination and missionary approach to make this department one of the best in the country. Beside routine academic actives of conducting seminars, guest lectures and industrial visits, which have now become business as well, Insha’Allah in the year 2017 we will focus on developing research culture in the Department. This is only possible with the support of University Management, funding agencies and industry, especially our own alumni working in industry.
