The pride of Kongu region, Arutselvar Dr. N. Mahalingam was an eminent

educationist. An ardent Gandhian, he was actively engaged in propagating the

cherished values. In recognition of his meritorious services to humanity, Government

of India conferred on him the PADMA BHUSHAN Award. Honorary Doctorate

Degrees were also awarded by Anna University, Tamilnadu Agricultural University,

Bharathiar University and Madurai Kamaraj University.

Dr. B. K. KRISHNARAJ VANAVARAYAR, B.Com, B.L.ChairmanDr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar is the Chairman of Sri Sakthi Textiles Ltd., Pollachi. He was the past Chairman of CII and also was Chairman and member of the Central Committee of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He has also served as the Chairman and member of the Central Committee of many leading schools, colleges and universities. Avinashilingam University and Sri Ramakrishna Mission, Coimbatore awarded Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar the ‘Degree of Doctor of Laws’ in 1999 and the ‘Vivekananda National Award of Excellence’ in 2006.

Dr. M. MANIcKAM M.Sc., M.B.A.Vice ChairmanDr.M.Manickam is an industrialist with M.B.A from the University of Mich-igan, U.S.A. He is the Chairman of NIA Educational Institutions and the Ex-ecutive Chairman of Sakthi Sugars. Under his capable guidance and stewardship, Sakthi Sugar Mills has expanded and set-up units in many places. Through his constant efforts, Sakthi Auto Components Ltd has modernized and expanded. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

Prof. Dr. K. ARUMUGAM, B.E. (Hons), M.S., M.I.E.Vice ChairmanAn experienced educationalist and administrator, Prof. Dr. K. Arumugam’s role in the development of this institution is inspiring and is worth emulating. His untiring contribution to the college has made KCT a premier institution. In recognition of his valuable contributions in the field of technical education, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Avinashilingam University and the Kongu Naattu Sadhanaiyalar award by NIA Educational Institutions.

Mr. M. BALASUBRAMANIAM, M.Com, M.B.A.CorrespondentShri. M.Balasubramaniam is an industrialist and a financial expert. He did his M.B.A. at the University of Notre Dame, USA. He is the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Sakthi Finance Ltd., Coimbatore. He is the Director in several companies and with his more than able guidance, ABT Industries Ltd., and ABT foods division have had an enormous growth. He was Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 1999. He is the Secretary of NGM College, Pollachi.

Mr. SHANKAR VANAVARAYAR, M.B.A., PGD.Joint CorrespondentShri. Shankar Vanavarayar is the Joint Correspondent of Kumaraguru College of Technology and the Executive Director of Sakthi Auto Motors Ltd, a part of the Sakthi Group based in Coimbatore. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce from PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. MBA from the Cardiff University, UK and a PG Diploma in International Education Management from the University of Leeds, UK.

Shankar Vanavarayar, an active worker for the development of the Youth was the National Chairman of CII’s Young Indians in 2011 – 12 and a recipient of the CII President’s Award. His passion in history, architecture, culture and heritage has seen him work towards the cause of its preservation through INTACH and ‘The Vanavarayar Foundation’.

Shankar Vanavarayar works on visioning and building the institution to today’s expectations with global and industry relevance. To bring about a learner centric approach with holistic development as a core ideal. To blend in culture, technology, creativity in the educational ecosystem and bring varied exposure to the students is his vision.


Mr. M. SRINIVAASAN, B.E., M.B.A.TreasurerShri. M. Srinivaasan, the treasurer of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, is an industrialist. He is a Mechanical Engineer and has an M.B.A degree from USA. Currently, he is the Managing Director of Sri Chamundeswari Sugars Lim-ited and the current chairman of Indian Sugar Mills Association. He also holds the Directorship of various companies in the Sakthi Group.

Shri. BABAJI RAJAH BHoNSLe, B.E.AdvisorShri. Babaji Rajah Bhonsle is a Civil Engineer by profession and he is the hereditary trustee of Thanjavur Palace Devastanam for over 26 years. He is the Treasurer of art Gallery of Thanajavur which exhibits exquisite Chola Bronzes. He is the Director of Royal Museum and Convener of INTACH Chapter, Thanajavur. He is the Board member of Chatram administration, Managing Trustee of Siddhar ashram and a Board Member of Rajah’s Higher Secondary School.

Dr. M GURUSAMY, B.E., M.S.AdvisorDr. M. Gurusamy is a Civil Engineer and has completed his M.S in Oklahoma State University, USA and the Doctor of Engineering in City UNIVLA, USA. He was nominated in the Dean’s honour List for his meritorious academic performance in the M.S.Programme. He is a senior academician and he has been the Principal of CIT for many years and he also has held various positions in top-level institutions

Dr. R S KUMAR, B.E. (Hons), M Tech, Ph. DPrincipalDr R S Kumar has 30 years of experience, of which 15 years are in the Industry. He is an alumnus of PSG College of Technology and IIT Delhi. He had earlier worked in MNCs such as Ashok Leyland Ltd. and HCL Ltd. He is a Mechanical Engineer by profession and has experience in R&D, Service Industry and Engineering Education. He has served in the committees of Anna University Chennai, AUT Chennai and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He has published several papers in national / International conferences / journals and has co-authored one book.

KumArAguru College of teChnology (KCt), Coimbatore is an autonomous Engineering College, established in 1984 under the auspices of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, part of Sakthi Group headed by Arutchelvar Dr.N.Mahalingam, a Gandhian, industrialist and a philanthropist. He envisioned to empower the youth through quality education and thereby drive socio economic development blended with spirituality. True to the vison of its Founder, KCT stands today as an institution of excellence in technical education with 32 years of illustrious service to the students, many of whom are shining as leaders and contributors to development, across the world.

Located amidst the IT corridor in a sprawling campus of 150 acres, KCT offers 13 Under Graduate and 14 Post Graduate programmes with many approved Research Centres. More than 6000 students are imparted quality technical education by a dedicated team of 395 qualified and experience faculty members who are ably assisted by 360 supporting staff. The college has residential facilities to accommodate around 3300 students in 8 blocks with state-of-the art dining halls and student facility centre. Well-equipped laboratories, research facilities such as iQube, CEAD, Modern Garage, dirt-track range are some of the facilities part of KCT. FORGE, a techno business incubator of KCT provides technological consulting for start-up pursuits of alumni of KCT and entrepreneurs, besides supporting conversion of innovative ideas of student into product development and commercialization.

In line with the vison of the Founder, students at KCT learn a holistic education where opportunities are aplenty for students for curricular pursuits and innovations, harnessing their talent and skills in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, besides a defined systems and processes for learning and imbibing ethical and human values, to shine as core professionals in their chosen careers.To facilitate this, the college has 28 clubs and forums, sports facilities spread across in 23 acres with modern facilities, a state of the art GYM, and an exclusive Department of Human Excellence, ably supported by the Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekanandha Study Centres who groom the person in the budding professionals.

Kumaraguru college of Technology (KCT), Coimbatore is a private Engineering College started in 1984 under the auspices of ramanandha adigalar foundation, a charitable educational trust of Sakthi group. It is situated in 150 acres in the IT corridor of Coimbatore which in many ways was a front runner in the eco system.

Under the able guidance and patronage of arutselvar Dr. n. mahalingam, Chairman, Sakthi group and with the able administration of Dr. B. K. Currently the college, as an autonomous institution affiliated to the anna University, offers 13 under-graduate (B.E., B.Tech.) and 14 post-graduate (M.E., M.Tech., MCa, MBa) programs of study. all the above courses have the approval of all India Council for Technical Education (aICTE) and all the eligible Ug programs have also been accredited by national Board of accreditation (nBa). In addition,KCT has also been accredited by national assessment and accreditation Council (naaC) of UgC. ISo 9001:2008 certification further confirms the institution’s commitment to educational quality. 9 of the 16 academic departments have been recognized as research centers permitting research leading to ph.d. degree by anna University. The College has 16 academic departments and 9 research centers, each headed by a competent and experienced professor. altogether, the college has over 350 well-qualified teaching faculty and 161 supporting technical staff, in addition to 160 administrative staff. The combined student intake during the current year is 2100 and the total number of students on roll is 6000. a comprehensive accidental insurance scheme covers all. 4. The students should wear the prescribed uniform for lab classes.

5. Boys and girls should wear shoes. Boys should tuck in their shirts.

6. The vehicle of the students should be parked in the allotted parking place.

7. Mobile phones should not be used in any academic areas, such as department class rooms, labs, workshops, administrative buildings, library, Conference hall, Seminar halls, etc.

8. Students should follow the rules and regulations prescribed by anna University of Technology, Coimbatore.

9. The hostel students should follow the hostel rules and regulations.

10. Students should maintain discipline in the campus. a disciplinary committee appointed by the principal will enquire into any incident of the report of students’ indiscipline and recommend suitable action to be taken.

11. Students should use the facilities in the campus without causing any damage. If any damage is caused, action will be taken to correct and recover the cost, in addition to disciplinary proceedings, if applicable.

16. Smoking / possession and consumption of drugs / tobacco products / possession and consumption of alcohol inside the campus will lead to seperation from the institution.

17. Celebrations of any kind without prior permission from the Management are prohibited in the campus. violation of the above will be viewed seriously.

18. periodical reports will be sent to parents / guardians calling their attention regarding the student’s attendance, progress and conduct. Students should bring their parents / guardians to the hod / principal for any discussion regarding the same, as and when required.

19. raggIng is strictly prohibited. any student, who directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates “RAGGING” within or outside the campus shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend upto 3 years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend up to Rs.25,000/-. he / She shall also be dismissed from the educational institution and such students shall not be admitted in any other educational Institution.

1. Candidates should note the examination timetable and the seating arrangements made for each exam carefully. They shall take their places in the examination hall at least ten minutes before the commencement of the examination.

2. Candidates are required / permitted to use their own stationery items (except papers / answer books), mathematical / drawing / geometric instruments, non–programmable calculators and approved tables and data books during the theory and practical examinations. no other material / gadget (including cell phone) should be brought inside the examination hall.

3. Candidates are not permitted to bring any pouch / purse / electronic gadget with memory that could be used for storing, retrieving and copying answers during the examination.

4. Candidates should search their pockets, desks and benches and handover to the hall Superintendent / Invigilator any paper / book / note / chit which they may find therein before starting to answer the paper.

5. Candidates shall affix their signature in token of their receiving an answer book in the hall Superintendent’s / Invigilator’s record.

6. Candidates should read the instructions given on the first page of the answer book before beginning to answer the paper.

7. Candidates shall write their registration number in the space provided in the question paper immediately after the question paper is distributed.

8. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall till the expiry of half an hour after the distribution of question papers. Candidates who leave the hall during the examination (after the stipulated half an hour) will not be allowed to return.

having realized the severity of the practice of ragging among the students, the government of India and government of Tamilnadu have directed all the heads of Educational Institutions to stop forthwith such an unhealthy and inhuman behaviour of the students. accordingly, the government of Tamilnadu has promulgated an act (no.7 of 1997) to prohibit ragging in educational institutions. Salient features of the act are as follows :

VALLALAR MAIYAMVallalar Maiyam is the Student Facilities Center is a four-storied building with a sprawling sixty eight thousand two hundred and fifty sq.ft built up area. It is an integrated entertainment, dining and living space, designed to host a variety of special institutional and departmental events. The Student Facilities Center houses a modern kitchen which uses solar energy to make up to 4000 meals per day on the ground floor, dining area and snack kiosk in the first floor and six dormitories in the third floor.

The main console is connected to 60 listening booths which have been specially designed for student-teacher interaction. The lab also has a large number of cassettes and books for all levels. The language laboratory is used for language tutorials. The students of all engineering courses attend these, besides the students who voluntarily opt for remedial English classes. The language lab facility is also used by the students in achieving mastery over English through word games, quizzes, extempore, debates and preparation for BEC and IELTS examinations of British Universities.

KCT-Institution of Engineers (India) Student chapter functions in the college from 2001 with a membership of 200. The students’ chapter is managed by a convener assisted by a committee under the advice of the in-charge. The KCT – IEI student chapter organizes technical activities such as lectures and technical paper presentation contests.

ISTE FACULTY CHAPTER

ISTE Faculty chapter functions in the college. The 33rd ISTE Annual Convention and National seminar was organized at KCT during 27th – 30th December 2003 in which more than 1,000 faculty members of technical institutions from all over India took part. Every year ISTE chapter has been conducting faculty development programmes such as induction training, use of teaching aids, communication skills development, etc.

KCT-HAM CLUB

Ham Radio Operators are a group of people nurturing a special interest in wireless communication technology. They operate their wireless transceivers (a combined unit of radio transmitter and receiver) during their pastime for the sheer joy, thrill and excitement involved in doing worldwide radio communication. Unlike the broadcast radio stations (to whom we usually tune our radio receivers to listen to), HAM – RAD IO is a two-way communication system.

HAM - RAD IO operators can put their voice on the air and interact with fellow radio operators around the world. When all other means of communications have failed, HAM enthusiasts have played a vital role in communicatingfromremoteinaccessibleplacesduringnaturaldisasterslikefloods,hurricaneandtsunamiand have aided rescue of victims.

The college HAM Club promotes amateur radio operation among students as a useful hobby. The club organizes classes for operating HAM equipment. The club is also involved in obtaining necessary permission from the Government Departments for HAM aspirants.

SAHITYA CLUB

Literary club was established with the purpose of promoting awareness among the staff and students for enhancing language skills. Sahitya is a team of vibrant young engineers who share a passion for literature.
