In July of 2014, Infusion Services were included broadening our scope of practice. My career at Children’s has prepared me to challenge myself as evidenced by my past positions as Pediatric Intensive Care Unit staff RN and Charge Nurse; 5 Center Acute Care staff RN, preceptor, and Charge Nurse. A motivating position before and after Hurricane Katrina was Nursing Supervisor for the hospital. I was fortunate enough to come back to the city and still have a job. My education in psychiatric care was enhanced and challenged during the first four years after the closure of our city. Mental health became a priority in our Emergency Department. I was directly and indirectly involved in making healthcare and social service decisions for patients, families and the Hospital. I have remained at Children’s Hospital during my entire nursing career and have been fortunate to work in the pediatric field of nursing. Pediatric nursing has been a passion my entire career and it has enabled me to develop professionally as a Nursing Director. Strengths: developing staff to enrich their nursing career and encourage their educational and professional advancements. I am always up for a new project to enhance patient safety and better their experience.
