GLOSSARY License Plates: in AX are a unique ID that can be barcoded and assigned to a pallet,

location, forklift, etc. Uses: pallets / containers can be assigned a unique license plate number. When

receiving or putting away an item, items can be assigned to a specific license plate (i.e. to a specific container / pallet). Then, when that container or pallet is transferred, shipped, or received at a new location, the user need only indicate which license plate is being moved, and all of the items stored on that container/pallet will be updated as well, without having to individually identify them.

Location Types: are used to describe or define the locations that your warehouse will be using. Example: BAYDOOR, BULK, INBOUND, STAGE, OUTBOUND, TV PICKING. Cellphones Picking.

GLOSSARY

LOCATION DIRECTIVESLocation directives, as the name suggests, are rules used to direct work transactions to the appropriate locations in the warehouse on a specific point of the business process, like receiving inventory from a PO or taking out inventory from a SO.

WORKWorks are specific task assigned to a user in order to complete a Work ID that englobe a list of works, Examples: Pick, Put, Print, Counting, Adjustments, Status change.

WORK TEMPLATE

Work templates are a tool uses to create work at various points in the system to specific user.

For example, a purchase order has been received, so a work item must be created for somebody to go and pick items from the defaulted receiving dock and follow the location directive action to put the item away in a particular location. The other areas where work is created are reservation/picking, production including lean Kanban processes, inventory transfers, and adjustments.

OUTBOUND – SALES ORDERS - WM

To ship sales order details, Warehouse Management for Microsoft Dynamics AX creates shipments and loads.

A shipment can be one or multiple sales orders going to the same destination. A shipment is a group of sales orders for the same customer or for the same destination.

A load is a group of sales orders grouped together and typically going out on a single truck, rail car, or other mode of delivery.

A load can have one or many shipments, and a shipment can have one or many sales orders.

WAVE TEMPLATES

A sales order is created, which will create a shipment. Typically, shipments refer to the same destination location. Multiple shipments can be created based on multiple sales orders.

A wave template takes the shipments and creates the work which can create loads.

Wave templates are used to define the wave execution process and setup criteria for when waves are created, executed, and released.

CYCLE COUNTING Warehouse Management can create cycle counting work. Cycle count work is its

own “type” of work which can be executed through the mobile device and verified through the client. Depending on the configuration, there are different ways to create and execute cycle counting work in order to verify a warehouse’s inventory.

IF INVENTORY BLOCKING IS SELECTED, THE ITEM CANNOT BE SHIPPED OR SPECIFIED ON A SALES ORDER, TRANSFER ORDER, OR PRODUCTION BOM. IN ADDITION, THE INVENTORY IS NOT CONSIDERED AVAILABLE FOR RESERVATION. IT IS STILL AVAILABLE IN THE LOCATION LEVEL, SO THAT THE INVENTORY CAN BE MOVED IN THE WAREHOUSE.
