Design has always been a part of me some way, first unconsciously, yet I have never felt it this close. I love to be part of things that evolve into something great, this kind of evolution inspires me. Challenging tasks even those involving hard work, result in experiences lasting a lifetime. With a productdesign-engineer background, I concentrate mostly on furniture. In all of my work emotions play a very important role. I aim to create concept-based objects through experiments.

FAST CASUAL CHAIRMy concept was to design a chair inspired by fast casual restaurants. The idea was to recognize what feelings, eating habits and sociological situations these restaurants offer to people and interpret this into a functional furniture. The design of the backrest was inspired by my back problems, the special curvature shape generates a gentle massaging pressure on the muscles along the spine. The chair with the harmony of acrylic and steamed oak represents a natural, clean, contemporary touch.

CROSS CHAIR AND STOOL

Few years after making my Pinsofa 1, I began to work on the design of a furniture collection that follows the same design method; “sketch-modeling”. The individual pieces of this collection are dissimilar in their forms although all made according to the same concept: taking everyday objects to first make small-scale furniture models and then enlarging them to the desired scale to achieve life-size pieces. This approach leads to unusual objects and situations upturning the ordinary context and pieces of furniture becoming individual characters. The final objects are an upholstered chair and a stool, both of which, following the same creative principle, resulted – after long technical experimentation – from enlarging mockups made from tile spacers to about twenty-fold its size.

PINSOFA 1

Walking through the classroom with beautiful sunshine coming through the windows, I discovered a new beauty in the needles sticking out of the needle pillows. This was my very first impression - I told myself this was so inspiring that I should be working with it.My main idea was to have a playful concept, what refers to the inner child in every one of us. Enlarged object by themselves generate the feeling of being little as children. With the enlarged needles I am relating to textile techniques in an abstract way.

POETIC FURNITURE - FROZEN TEXTILE

My thesis, the foundation of my work is based on the concept of poetry in the context of design. Comparing it with narrative design. In conclusion, poetry is the act beyond function determines an object’s emotional content towards the user. I started the design process with material studies, working with a biodegradable plastic (PLA), and natural textiles. The aim was to create a composite material that not only possesses good technical properties but also emphasizes naturalness, looks and feels intriguing and inspiring. The idea was to create a concept furniture, which is concerned with the poetic nature of the material. While forming the furniture the originally soft material becomes rigid. I wanted to save this moment of creation, when a piece of textile is “blown” onto the frame, forming a chair.

BYBA SOFA AND ARMCHAIR

ILVA design award 2017 3rd place

in collaboration with: Daniel Lakosyear: 2017

Designer’s aim is usually to create something which has never been done before. These efforts often resulted in exaggerated forms or gags. Our goal is to design a chair which is rather classical and timeless than provoc-ative or very up-to-date. We propose a clear distinction between the slim wooden frame and the upholstered seating part. Due to our concept the refined proportions and ergonomic perfection isenough to create a memorable piece.

BREWIE

year: 2017

Brewie, is an automated beer brewing machine that grants an easy, user-friendly interface. My task was to redesign the body of the machine, ensuring an exclusive and clean look but eliminating highly expensive manufacturing processes, like machining, while paying close attention to every detail, making it a better product.

STOCKHOLM FURNITURE FAIR

Our team had the opportunity to design the exhibition booth for The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for the 2014 Stockholm Furniture Fair. The project involved fundraising, logistics and building of the exhibition, also the online and offline representation of the exhibition.

VALET STAND

year: 2014

The concept is based on the playfulness and impersonation of objects, while working with soft, thin lines almost like a graphical work. The aim was to design a valet stand which can be used intuitively in different ways. The steel pipe circles fit into each other thus the furniture can be flat packed.

SYMBIOTIC CHAIR

year: 2012

I had this broken chair in my room for quite a while and I always felt I had to do something with it. For a long time I had a desire to create something illogical, representing feelings driven by the intuitions of subconsciousness. The result is a chair covered with painted acrylic paste symbolizing an unreal organism living beyond symbiosis on stuff left alone.

SCULPTURE

The study is about the interpretation of three attributes: SLENDER, MYSTERIOUS, FEAR
