Enjoy the imperial beauty of Budapest, the dazzling elegance of Vienna, breathtaking landscapes and fine wines of Germany’s Rhine Valley and the old world ambiance of Holland. All from the comfort of your luxurious floating hotel, the newly built ms Viking Lif. It's no wonder this epic voyage is Viking's most popular itinerary.

Our wonderful journey begins as we meet our fellow travellers at the airport and board our overnight flight to Europe.
FRIDAY, JUNE 8 | LD
Day 2 · Budapest
Today we arrive in Budapest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (WHS) and capital of Hungary. We transfer to our ship and settle in to our stateroom. The afternoon is free to relax or explore the city on our own. Or, choose to join an organized walk to Budapest’s famous covered market in the three-story Great Market Hall established in 1897. Onboard ship tonight, enjoy a traditional Hungarian dinner.
SATURDAY, JUNE 9 | BLD

The Danube River divides the Hungarian capital city into Buda on the west bank and Pest on the east. Today we visit highlights of the hilly Buda and cosmopolitan Pest sides of the city, starting with Pest’s National Opera House and historic Heroes’ Square. In Buda, we walk along Castle Hill to Fishermen’s Bastion and Matthias Church. Enjoy lunch on board ship. The rest of the day is free to explore the city. Perhaps a visit to the Art Nouveau Gellért Spa, or one of the many other lavish facilities in this “City of Healing Waters.” Return to the ship for dinner and evening departure.
SUNDAY, JUNE 10 | BLD

Enjoy a day of scenic cruising as we sail along the beautiful Danube toward Vienna, arriving early this evening. After dinner, relax or enjoy an optional classical concert.
MONDAY, JUNE 11 | BLD

Today we tour the Austrian capital of Vienna (WHS). Ride along the Ringstrasse, which replaced the city walls in the mid-19th century. See some of
the city’s baroque architecture, including the world-famous Opera House, St. Stephan’s Cathedral and Hofburg Palace. We return to our ship for lunch, and the rest of the day is free to further explore at leisure. Or, take an optional tour to Schönbrunn Palace (WHS), the “Versailles of Vienna,” erected in 1778 and graced by a number of formal gardens, Grecian statuary, the world’s oldest zoo and Roman ruins.
TUESDAY, JUNE 12 | BLD
Day 6 · Melk Abbey
This morning we cruise along the Danube through the beautiful Wachau Valley (WHS). We visit Melk Abbey (WHS), a 900-year-old Benedictine monastery featuring Austria’s finest Italian baroque architecture. We will admire its wonderful frescoes and the comprehensive collection of medieval manuscripts in the library. Afterwards we rejoin our ship and cruise through the dinner hour.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13 | BLD

Inside, we are treated to a special concert played on the 17,000-pipe organ, considered Europe’s largest church organ. Enjoy lunch aboard the ship, and return to the city for further exploration on our own before departing. We cruise through the night.
THURSDAY, JUNE 14 | BLD
Day 8 · Regensburg
This morning after breakfast, we arrive in Regensburg (WHS) and tour this wonderfully preserved medieval city which contains structures
dating back to Roman times. We discover many 13th and 14th-century patrician houses and see the splendid St. Peter’s Cathedral. During free time, visit the Alte Wurstküche (Old Sausage Kitchen), Germany’s oldest restaurant. After an interesting day, we continue cruising along the 'Blue Danube'.
FRIDAY, JUNE 15 | BLD

During our morning cruise, we may choose to attend a noteworthy presentation about the European Union. In the late morning we arrive in Nuremberg and after lunch will disembark for a tour. We visit the ruins of Zeppelin Field, the Nazi parade grounds of the 1930s, and see the Palace of Justice, site of the infamous Nuremberg Trials. See the Old Town area as we walk past the Albrecht Dürer House and Main Market Square. This morning we cruise past hilltop castles along the Middle Rhine (WHS) a stunning stretch of the river. We pass the Lorelei Rock, which marks the river’s narrowest point.
