These results are measured in comparison withSECAR® 71 in a low cement castable.

Over the last 30 years, deflocculated castables haveexperienced tremendous success in the refractoryindustry all over the world.

Due to the low cement content, a small amount of moisturepick up can represent a significant moisture relative to thecement compared to conventional castables. This moisturepick up in the dry mix can lead to a deterioration of castableproperties which leads to shorter shelf-life of LCC, ULCC.

This effect, called ‘Ageing’, can happen any time as a result of the interactions between castable andmoisture and/or CO2. Ageing usually results in longer setting time, lower strengthand higher risk of on site problem.

To solve the intrinsic ageing issues, Kerneos now offers notonly a time stable calcium aluminate cement but one thatcan also enhance the shelf life of dry mix castables.

Kerneos also supplies technical support andrecommendations to help its customers evaluateageing through laboratory and in-situ testing.

SECAR® 712 is available in 25 kg bags, big bagsand bulk. SECAR® 712‘s shelf life is 12 monthsand potentially longer when stored in dryconditions in the original packaging.
