ETHICALTRADING We take seriously our responsibility to trade ethically and we are committed to compliance with the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code. This forms the basis for our policy and actions and we work only with suppliers who will sign up to do the same.

We continually monitor our suppliers to ensure that they are meeting the requirements of the ETI base code and visit each facility so that we can see for ourselves that standards are being met or exceeded. Our best suppliers are providing great working conditions for their staff and benefits over and above the code. The ETI base code is the standard chosen by most of the organisations that promote ethical trading throughout the world. We are pleased to be part of a trading community that has these values and we are now a full member of the Ethical Trading Initiative – the leading alliance of companies, trade unions and NGOs that protects respect for workers’ rights around the globe.

Meltemi has attained Level 4 of the NHS Supply Chain Labour Standards Assurance Scheme, which is the highest standard achievable. By working in collaboration with our suppliers and aiming high, we can ensure that our products are never a cause for risk or concern within the NHS and the wider healthcare community.

MELTEMI AND THE ENVIRONMENT As the focus on protecting the environment becomes ever stronger, we are proud to support environmental initiatives and perceived best practice. To this end, we are certified to ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and our policy is to select base fabric suppliers who conform to, or who are working towards, the OEKO-TEX standard 100 for positive environmental processes. In addition, we use 75% recycled board for packaging which is also fully recyclable. Our garment fabrics and high quality manufacture are selected to provide long lasting uniform solutions to reduce renewal rates and our easy care fabrics are sourced to help reduce washing temperatures and aid energy efficiency.
