DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GHAZIABAD INTERNATIONAL OCTOBER 2017 SAY NO TO POLY BAGS DRIVE The students continued their efforts towards creating awareness regarding various issues related to health and society as they highlighted the harmful effects of polybags on the environment, at Ajnara Integrity, Raj Nagar Extension in a ‘Say No To Polybags’ drive wherein they distributed paper bags to residents and shopkeepers and urged them to do away with the use of poly bags. They also spoke about the harmful effects of these bags on not only our environment but also our drainage system and animals. SKYPE SESSION ON ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY Students of classes XI and XII (Psychology group) attended a Skype session with Ms. Lisa M. Kath (Ph.D.), Associate Professor at San Diego State University where they discussed the career prospects of Organizational Psychology. She also explained who I-O Psychologists are and how they are an asset for an organization. She highlighted the different job prospects for an I-O Psychologist. CBSE NORTH ZONE TAEKWANDO CLUSTER Our students won laurels at the CBSE North Zone Taekwondo Cluster held at R.R. Public School. Osho Ketan Bhardwaj bagged the bronze medal in the above 50 kg category for boys. District Level Science Exhibition – 2017 Ekansh Agarwal of class XI C participated in District Level Science Exhibition – 2017, organized by Govt. of U.P in collaboration with District Administration, Ghaziabad, held at Rajkiya Inter College Nandgram. His project was selected among the best 20 projects from over 100 projects that were exhibited at the exhibition by over 80 school of the district.

TECHNOVATIONS AT IMS COLLGE GHAZIABAD The senior students attended a science exhibition at IMS Engineering College Ghaziabad, to inculcate scientific temperament and to explore various aspects of science and technology. The students closely observed various working models presented by the mechanical, robotics and biotechnology departments and understood the working of machines and practical applications of the concepts.

NATIONAL CENTER OF ORGANIC FARMING VISIT An educational trip to National Center of Organic Farming, Department of Agriculture, Ghaziabad was organized for students of XI – XII as a part of the field survey project. The students got a firsthand experience of eco-friendly agriculture, organic farming and agro-waste compost production.

DIWALI CELEBRATIONS Diwali was celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm in a special assembly. The sarvdharm prarthana was followed by a brief introduction to the festival Diwali, focusing on the importance of celebrating a pollution-free Diwali, followed by a Hindi poem. The spirit of Diwali was finely presented by the concluding dance performance of grade IX students.

NGO VISIT ON DIWALI We believe in inculcating values of sharing and caring along with celebrating festivals in a secular manner. To spread festive cheer and happiness among the underprivileged and to light up their Diwali the students of classes VI-VIII visited an NGO-Nandini Khushi Foundation in Vaishali and distributed gifts, sweets and stationery items among the children of the NGO. They also purchased diyas, candles etc. made by the children and conducted a workshop on Health and Hygiene for them.

FIRST AID WORKSHOP BY COLUMBIA ASIA HOSPITAL In an effort to provide the best possible medical and safety measures to the students, the school has signed a contract with Columbia Asia Hospital under which the students of the school will be provided immediate treatment in case of emergency and good discounts on other treatments. Extensive workshops on first aid and health related issues will also be conducted in the school by doctors of the hospital at regular intervals. The first workshop in the series was conducted in the school on 23rd Oct, 2017 by Dr. Ekta wherein she highlighted the first aid procedures to be followed and precautions to be observed in case of heart attacks, suffocation, breathlessness etc. She stressed on the importance on first aid in minimizing the effects of injury and preventing disability and death in case of accidents or mishaps.

IMPORTANCE OF FRENCH LANGUAGE The school also organized a session on the importance of learning French and different scholarship programs available in France and other French speaking countries. The session was conducted by Ms. Anaïs Cayzac, Assistante de la Délégation Générale Alliance Française Inde-Népal & Ms. Victoria, Deputy Manager, Campus France, from Alliance Française, in association with the French Embassy.

GIRL CHILD EDUCATION SURVEY As a part of the Community Connect Program, our students took up the initiative to spread awareness on need of Girl Child Education. The students conducted a survey at Ashiana and Landcroft, Golf Links society as a part of the programme. They interviewed residents and shared their views on the importance of promoting the girl child education and the role of society and family in doing so. The students’ efforts were appreciated and lauded by the residents.

GOAL SETTING WORKSHOP An extensive Goal Setting workshop was conducted for the school faculty as a part of the ‘Goal Setting Initiative’ started by the DPSG Society to assist students to improve their performance through SMART goals. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Mukta Sharma, DPSG Society.

CHILDREN CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION DAY The students attended Children Creativity and Innovation Day at DPSG Meerut Road, organized by the Council for Science & Technology, Govt. of U.P in collaboration with District Administration Ghaziabad, to commemorate the birthday of our late president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. They participated in various activities such as innovative models, poster and cartoon creations and essays on innovations in world of science

KIDSZANIA TRIP A fun filled trip for students of class VI-X was organized to Kidszania Noida. Over 220 students enjoyed a fun filled day participating in various activities which taught them many life skills and values. The students learnt the skills of budgeting and earning money to fulfill their needs and developed an insight into the conditions under which people work in certain professions like masons, fire fighters, ambulance staff, barbers, chefs, courier boys etc. to name a few. The students thoroughly enjoyed their trip and came back enriched with wonderful experiences and memories.

ANTI POLLUTION RALLY AND STREET PLAY As a part of the Community Connect initiative the students conducted an Anti-Pollution rally and Nukkad Natak in Govindpuram Ghaziabad. The students created awareness about the harmful effects of pollution and urged the residents to adopt eco-friendly alternatives in everyday chores. The students’ efforts received appreciation from the residents as well as the shopkeepers in the vicinity.

INTER HOUSE BEST OUT OF WASTE COMPETITION An Inter House Best out of Waste Competition was held for students of classes VI – VIII where the participants used different waste materials like bottle caps, coconut shells, newspaper, ice-cream spoons to make beautiful articles showing their creativity. The 1st Position was won by Krishna Kansal of Yamuna House & Aanandita Bhartiya of Ganga House, the 2nd position was secured by Gopal Bansal of Cauvery House & Pranav Sirohi of Satlej House. The 3rd place was won by Hemika Verma of Yamuna House & Varnika Mittal of Yamuna House.

ECO FRIENDLY DIWALI The students took up the initiative to spread awareness for ‘Eco friendly Diwali’. Carrying posters and placards bearing anti-cracker slogans, the students exhorted residents and conducted a rally cum survey at GH-7, Crossing Republik as a part of the programme. They highlighted the ill-effects of environmental pollution and health hazards due to extensive bursting of fire crackers and as ambassadors of change urged residents to celebrate an eco-friendly and green Diwali.

GARBAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM SURVEY The students of the DPSG International went to Kavi Nagar area in order to conduct a survey on Garbage Disposal System. The residents and people in and around the area were given a small questionnaire to fill where they were asked questions on recycling and composting. Although many people had heard about recycling there were only a few practicing it. The students shared several recycling ideas that they could incorporate in their daily lives.

SOUND OF MUSIC – JUNIOR ANNUAL FUNCTION DPSG International organized its Junior Wing Annual Function on 27th October, 2017 in the school amphitheater. Ms. Raj Sharma, an eminent environmentalist graced and Mr. Uday Shankar an eminent artist and cartoonist graced the occasion with their presence. Anshul Pathak Vice Chairman DPSG Society and Chairman DPSG International presided over the function. The lighting of the lamp by the guests was followed by the welcome song by the choir group. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Raj Sharma praised the efforts of the students and also stressed on the need to develop social responsibility in students from a tender age. The guests were enthralled by the performance of the students as they were transported into the Pre-World War II Austria and saw the lives of the Von Trapp Family unfold before them through the enchanting musical extravaganza The Sound of Music. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Junior Wing coordinator Malavika Yadav.

ISA Activity Another ISA activity was conducted for the children of class 1 where they participated in Hindi Recitation Competition on the topic ‘birds and animals’. Through this activity they learnt about the life and voices of different animals and birds of various countries.

Peer Education Students of Class V Daisy conducted Peer Education Programme for the students of Classes III - V at Krishna Pride, Ghaziabad. They were familiarized with the need and significance of personal safety. An interactive session was carried out to encourage the little ones to indulge in a heart to heart conversation. The elements of the presentation were- safety tips for students in school, at home, in nearby areas where emphasis was laid upon the identification of good touch and bad touch. Children were inspired to take this learning for lifelong and to believe in the 3c’s of safety i.e. Caution, Communication and Confidence.

COUNTING MONEY AND MAKING CHANGE

Money is a complex concept for the children to grasp, it’s not just a matter of counting but it also holds a lot of importance in our lives. Students of class IV were familiarized with the concept of money by creating a market scene in the class. They were encouraged to explore uses of money by selling different commodities in various shops like grocery shop, vegetable shop, sweets shop, snacks corner and stationery corner. Students learnt the use of currency and monetary transactions in daily life.

LANTERN MAKING COMPETITION An Inter-Class Lantern making Competition was organized for classes I -III. The competition was a part of Diwali celebrations and an effort to build inter cultural bonding among the students. Children participated earnestly and came up with amazing artwork. A variety of paper lantern were made by the children and appreciated by one and all.

Fancy dress competition - ISA activity A Fancy Dress Competition as an ISA activity was conducted on national animals of different countries for STARZ students. The toddlers came dressed as different national animals and represented various countries. They spoke few lines about their character and the nation they represented. Favourite Colour Day The Starz students participated in “Favorite Colour Day” and came dressed up in their favourite colours. The whole corridor was decorated with different colours cutouts made by the students. The day began with the rainbow rhyme and the students also enjoyed the story narration of colours of rainbow. Later they enjoyed lunch in their favourite colour and also went on a walk around the campus trying finding their favourite colour on their way.

Bandhanwaar Making Competition An Inter-Class ‘Bandhanwaar’ making Competition was organized for classes IV&V as a part of the Diwali celebrations. Children participated earnestly in the competition and came up with a variety of colourful and appealing Bandhanwaars.

SLOGAN WRITING ACTIVITY One of the main purposes of travel is to obtain knowledge and experience on certain topics. Travelling helps us acquire new information about culture or history of other countries and cities. On the other hand education gives us an opportunity to learn about new places and destinations. Taking a step in the same direction the school organized a Slogan Writing Activity for classes VI-VIII to create awareness among the students about how education and tourism go hand in hand. Students participated with a lot of enthusiasm and interest and created some wonderful and innovative slogans for the activity.

GERMAN WEEK German week was celebrated as a showcase for the talents of German students from 24th -31st October, 2017. An Inter Class Poster Making on the theme Indo-German Freundschaft was organized where Vasu Johri & Sarthak Singh of Class VIII bagged 1st position. The 2nd Position was bagged by Bhuvi Chawla & Suhana of Class VIII and 3rd position was bagged by Vedant Gupta of Class VII. In the Inter House German Spell Bee Competition, 1st position was tied between Yamuna & Satluj House and Ganga House was on 2nd position with Cauvery House securing the 3rd position. The students were also shown a German movie to enhance their understanding of the language.

DPSG Meerut Road MUN The students of classes IX and XI participated in the 2 day MUN held at DPSG Meerut Road. During the 2 day event, they participated in various discussions and debates on world issues. It was a truly enriching experience for the children. Ayush Dube and Shreyash Dube recieved special mentions for their efforts.

INTER HOUSE SUPER SCULPTURIST An Inter House Sculpture competition was organized for the students of classes VI-VIII in an effort to bring their creative and fine art skills to the forefront. Teams of all houses participated with enthusiasm and made expressive sculptures on various themes. Cauvery House team of Lavish Daksh, Harris Choudhary, Akul Sharma and Lavitra Raj Singh bagged the 1st position. The 2nd position was secured by the Ganga House team of Azeema Choudhary, Ananya Gupta, Sanyam Manglik and Alok Jain. The third position was tied between Yamuna and Satluj House.

CBSE NORTH ZONE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 Four of our students participated in the North Zone Skating Championships held at DPS Meerut and won laurels for the school. Anirudh Tyagi bagged the 2nd position in the 500 mts race and secured his participation in the CBSE National Championships.

ISA ACTIVTY – BROCHURE MAKING

The students of Class VI of DPSG International participated in the wonderful activity of making

a brochure. They had to make brochures of different countries from all around the world. Using

various sources like encyclopedias, internet etc. to collect information students researched,

designed and displayed the Brochures on different aspects of the countries chosen by them. The

brochures were perfect blend of text and graphics. The information was well organized. It

accurately portrayed selected country’s information and facts.

ISA ACTIVTY – PPT MAKING It has always been the school's endeavour to impart quality education to its students and equip them with essential skills to emerge as responsible global citizens. Under the ISA initiative, the school conducted a PPT presentation activity. The students prepared PPTs on the countries chosen by them. They included information, historical facts, tourist spots etc. of the chosen country in their PPTs. Through the ISA activity, the students learnt various values like inter-personal skills, team spirit, cross cultural acceptance and global citizenship.
