CYP with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) face multiple challenges when it comes to accessing the arts including physical access, and perceptions of intelligence and ability. However, employing disabled artists to work with CYP with PMLD can have a significant positive effect on participants’ creativity by becoming inspiring role models, mentors and leaders. However, disabled artists have very few professional development opportunities to develop their community arts facilitation and project management skills and sustain their work with CYP with PMLD.This workshop presents the findings of the TMC Splash! programme and provides practical examples of good practice of working with disabled artists.
