Definition of Narrative poetry

Narrative poetry is a form of poetry which tells a story, often making use of the voices of a narrator and characters as well; the entire story is usually written in metered verse. The poems that make up this genre may be short or long, and the story it relates to may be complex. It is usually dramatic, with objectives, diverse characters, and meter.[1] Narrative poems include epics, ballads, idylls and lays.

Example :

Example: Break-upDon't you ever get the desire after a break up, to take a leap?Yet end up overwhelmed with fear - wanting to weep,Emotions aren't meant to be kept, they're for someone to borrow,Not for you to drown and sulk in your bitter sorrow,As it's not the way out,So get rid of that drowning pout!

You shouldn't have given your heart,As now you're back to the start!

Set yourself free, embrace the present,Get back to reality, catch up on the time spent,Look at yourself a new,Love is but an emotion that isn't true,

Forget it...There's no sense to it, it's not a part of reality,So why waste your life, chasing a fantasy?

Movies have held us captive and manipulated us overtime,Searching for love- is as if you're looking for a lemon and finding a lime,It's not what expected and can't be predicted,

When breaking up, towards you people are sympathetic,But in reality to them you are simply pathetic,

Definition of LimerickThe limerick is a five-line joke of a poemwitty, usually involving place names and puns, and most often bawdy, sometimes unprintable. A limerick is constructed mostly of anapests, the metrical foot consisting of two unaccented or short syllables followed by one stressed or long syllable:da-da-dum. The first two lines are made up of three metrical feet, containing three stresses, the third and fourth lines are two, and the last line is three again, like so:Da-dum, da-da-dum, da-da-dum,Da-dum, da-da-dum, da-da-dum,Da-dum, da-da-dum,Da-dum, da-da-dum,Da-dum, da-da-dum, da-da-dum!Example : Elephants - two limericks 1.An irascibelephant whom no-one could trustHad a whim to run amok, or bust!Though roundly condemned by his peers as a skunk,From interception theyd cowardly shrunk,Saying simply, Old boy, if you musth, then you musth! 2. Elephants have as a favourite pursuitA fondness for tasty doum palm fruit,Though when of this delight they are sated,The tuskers can become quite inebriated,And stagger home in enormous wobbly-boots!

Definition of Haiku poetry"Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. Because Haikus are such short poems, they are usually written about things that are recognizable to the reader. Animals and seasons are examples of recognizable topics children might enjoy exploring. Here's a Haiku to help you remember:I am first with fiveThen seven in the middle --Five again to end.Example :Nature HaikuI hear birds singing.Birds are chirping everywhere.Their wings touch the sky.By GabrielleDefinition of nursery rhymesa short rhyme for children that often tells a story.Example : Mary had a little lamb,Little lamb, little lamb,Mary had a little lamb,Its fleece was white as snow

It made the children laugh and play,Laugh and play, laugh and play,It made the children laugh and playTo see a lamb at school

And so the teacher turned it out,Turned it out, turned it out,And so the teacher turned it out,But still it lingered near
