Students test best when they are with their teacher on the regularly scheduled testing day. Did you know that Jumping Rope: Improves Coordination, Decreases Foot and Ankle Injuries, Burns Calories, Improves Bone Density, Cardiovascular Health and Breathing Efficiency! Be Happy, Be Healthy! Our students are participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s student series fundraising program as a school-wide community service project! Your child will be helping local cancer patients beat their disease by raising funds needed to support blood cancer research. This fundraiser will run from March 4-15. Each student has received a Collection Box that should be returned by March 15th. The class that raises the most money will receive a catered Olive Garden lunch at school! March 4 - March 15

Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) Statewide Testing Dates

This fundraiser will run from March 4-15. Each student has received a Collection Box

that should be returned by March 15th.

BELL SCHEDULE

ARRIVAL

8:20 No bell - Students are unloaded from cars and may wait under covered entryway outside classrooms.

8:20 Breakfast is available in our cafeteria.

8:30 First bell rings. Students should be arriving in their classrooms.

8:40 Tardy bell rings. After this bell, students are accompanied by their parent to the front office to get a tardy pass. The Car Loop gate is closed.

DISMISSAL

2:50 P.L.A.C.E. Students will be escorted to the cafeteria.

2:50 Car Riders are brought out to the car loop (east side).

2:50 Bus Riders are escorted out to the bus loop located (west side) Day Care Vans and the YMCA Bus will also be in this area.

2:50 All Walkers and Bike Riders are escorted to the designated east or west bike rack, whichever is closest to home.

2:50 All Special Needs Transportation students are escorted to front gazebo.

(Cars are not permitted in the bus loop.)

Pre-Registration Forms Due 3/8

Please return the pre-registration form (sent home previously in Tuesday folder) to your child’s teacher by March 8th.

Your child will be registered at Deer Park for the upcoming school year when this form is returned.

This information will help us prepare for the 2019-2020 school year. Please check all appropriate responses.

Fifth grade students need to return this form so student records can be forwarded to the appropriate school.

For those families on affidavit of residence from a year ago or longer, a new application will be sent home to be completed before next school year.

If you no longer need the affidavit, please call the Registrar at 727-774-8906 to confirm residence address.

ABSENCE/TARDY

If your child is absent from school, please report the absence on our school website

(http://dpes.pasco.k12.fl.us/) and you will see the "Report an Absence" link. Fill out all

required information and the absence will go directly to our attendance office.

Sending a note as well is requested so the teacher is informed for any make-up work.

Please include your child’s first and last name along with student # on the note.

You may also call the absence in to the school office when web access is not available.

Please report before 10:30 a.m. to avoid the absent call home.

For students who are tardy to school, please escort them to the office for a pass. If they

were late due to an appointment, please have a note from the appointment provider. The

data entry office keeps the notes and will mark them as an excused tardy.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our APEX Fun Run and Valentine's Dance both a huge success!

We are excited to be able to provide more student enrichment and continue our PTA Kindness initiative with the funds earned.

We are going to be on the lookout for some new PTA board members and committee chairs this coming year.

Elections will take place at our last general meeting on April 29th.

Save the Date - Kindergarten Registration

For families who will be registering a new kindergarten student, please save the date of Monday, May 20th as Kindergarten Pre-registration Day.

Five Odyssey of the Mind teams from Deer Park competed Saturday, February 23rd at the

Regional Odyssey of the Mind Tournament.

Apply to be a School Volunteer!

Deer Park elementary needs approved volunteers to chaperone field trips, help in the classroom and

media center, and work at school events (Book Fair, Holiday Shoppe, PTA sponsored events, etc.).

1. Go to the Deer Park Elementary School website at http://www.dpes.pasco.k12.fl.us

2. Click on “Volunteer Application” under Important Links. This will direct you to the District Communications page. Click the blue volunteer application box at the bottom of the page, complete all information and click “Submit” when done.

Applications may take up to four weeks to be processed, however if you have an event coming up, please call the office and we will expedite your approval.
