Today, Basler Electric offers a full range of products and services to replace or upgrade the existing voltage regulator or the entire static exciter, as well as add or upgrade a power system stabilizer to your system. From a single shipped loose product to a complete installation and commission- ing, Basler can provide an excitation package to meet your needs. Use the chart on page 4 to select the manufacturer of your generator and the excitation system type and prime mover. Then check Basler's recommendation for a pre-engineered and packaged voltage regulator or static exciter replacement. Basler Excitation Control Systems The Basler Excitation Controls System family is composed of microprocessor-based digital excitation control systems that work with diesel, steam, gas, or hydro powered synchronous generation, as well as motors. The DECS-2100, DECS-400 and DECS-200/200N can communicate with SCADA systems via an RS485 port via standard Modbus™ communication protocol. DECS-200/200N Excitation System The DECS-200/200N limits, controls and protects a generator from operating outside of the machine’s capability. DECS-200N offers negative field forcing with nominal output 63Vdc or 125Vdc at 20Adc. DECS-200 is UL recognized, CSA certified, CE compliant, and DNV certified. The DECS-200N is cURus recognition per UL Standard 508, File E97035 and CSA Standard C22.2 No. 14. DECS-200 can accommodate 32Vdc, 63Vdc, or 125Vdc applications up to 15Adc. This unique flexibil- ity provides precision control of generators of any size, built on a pan chassis for easy installation into existing cabinet and interface. See page 4 The DECS-200 incorporates a pulse width modu- lated power stage, which improves system performances in non-linear load applications . The DECS-200N is designed to provide both positive and negative field forcing for fast transient into the exciter field. A redundant AVR system also is available, where the backup DECS automatically tracks the output level of the primary DECS and offers automatic fault transfer to redundant DECS, plus: Built in manual control Automatic transfer to manual upon loss of sensing Generator voltage matching Single or three phase power 50-420 Hertz 15 amp single quadrant, PWM dc output For details on the DECS- 200, request Bulletin SZM. DECS-400 Excitation ControllerThe DECS-400 is a microprocessor-based controller

that provides excitation control, flexible logic control,and optional power system stabilization for synchronousmachines in an integrated package. The controllerprovides an analog output to control the firing ofexternal bridge(s) and monitors machine parameters tocontrol, limit, and protect the synchronous machinefrom operating beyond its capability limitations.

The optional power system stabilizer function is anIEEE-type PSS2A, dual input, “integral of acceleratingpower” stabilizer that provides supplementary dampingfor low-frequency local mode, inter area, and inter unitpower system oscillations.

Easy SetupUsers can set up the DECS-200/200N or DECS-400

from the front panel or by PC with providedBESTCOMS Windows®-based setup software, choosingfrom the standard stability selections or customizingtheir own stability selection.

BESTCOMS provides the means to tune yoursystem, commission it and provide analysis of its opera-tion. Recent enhancements include transient boostcapability and PID for field current regulation mode.

DECS-2100 Excitation Control SystemsThe DECS-2100 is a multi-microprocessor excita-

tion control system that provides advanced technologyto precisely control, protect, and monitor synchronousgenerators, including new and existing applications thatare driven by all types of prime movers, such as steam,gas, and hydro. Its multifunctional design allows theDECS-2100 to operate as a voltage regulator or as astatic exciter, providing excitation currents up to 10,000Adc.

Basler Electric's Retrofit Solution for Power System StabilizersIf a power system stabilizer is required due to

geographical location, generator size or a regulatingagency, Basler Electric can provide the PSS-100 PowerSystem Stabilizer.

Basler Electric's PSS-100 Power System Stabilizer is atwo-input, microprocessor-based stabilizer that measureschange of speed and change of power to produce theintegral of accelerating power.

The PSS-100 provides supplementary damping forlow frequency power system oscillations ranging from 0.1to 5.0Hz, which covers local mode, inter-area mode andinter-unit mode power system oscillations.

The PSS-100 can be integrated into new or existingexcitation systems. The open design allows compatibilitywith any size synchronous machine's analog or digitalexcitation system that can accept a bipolar dc inputadjustable to ±10Vdc.
