Ironwood is Australia’s leading supplier and miller of reclaimed, recycled and new architectural Australian hardwood timbers.Welcome to Ironwood.

We are an Australian-owned family company established in 2001 with a history in the timber industry of more than 140 years. My experienced team and I pride ourselves on providing the highest quality and supplying the most innovative products available.

Ironwood operates from our Sydney warehouse and showroom in St Peters and our own purpose-built mill for the production of sustainable and recycled timber. Our mill is located at Pampoolah just outside of Taree, NSW.

Ironwood’s unique hardwood products are available from selected timber suppliers around Australia and New Zealand and are regularly distributed around the world.

The Ironwood team has the highest respect for timber and the environment. Timber is one of the most environmentally friendly and only sustainable building product available and Ironwood is a leader in ecological sustainability in the timber industry.

Ironwood’s focus on sustainable practices is evident from our new replanting scheme Future Forests to our mills having one of the highest recovery rates of timber possible (milled timber to sawdust ratio). Ironwood’s reclaimed posts range is made by hand selecting and salvaging sections of logs deemed only suitable for firewood.

Ironwood’s Wood for Good employs disadvantaged people to pack our quality firewood. Timber and mill offcuts also bring employment through our unique log stools, pavers, chopping boards and serving platters, as well as sawdust recycling.

Ironwood is expanding our unique range of decking, cladding and post products, which are now available to designers, builders and homeowners looking for that something special for their project.

Iron Deck Grey Weathered-face

Ironwood’s exclusive pre-greyed wharf-style decking.

Iron Deck is manufactured from reclaimed durable and sustainable Class 1 rated Australian hardwood (AS5604-2005) species, Spotted Gum, Ironbark, and Tallowwood, with a greater than 40-year life expectancy.

Pre-greyed and weathered in our unique seasoning process, Iron Deck has a sawn and hand wire brushed finish which increases slip resistance and reduces the impact of Australia’s extreme weather conditions.

This product has been perfected from years of experience supplying Australia’s major commercial marine contractors with bridge, wharf, and jetty decking timber; Iron Deck’s superior durability allows for a maintenance-free deck. Even without oil it continues to weather and grey to a beautiful, natural aged patina.

Iron Deck’s substantial thickness and high structural strength allows greater spanning between joists and faster installation with fewer screws required.

The exclusive profiles, heart-face down milling, arris edges to the sawn face, and advanced ventilation grooves combine to deliver the most unique, innovative, and long-lasting decking available.

FUTURE FORESTS

WHO ARE WE?Ironwood Australia is a proud supplier of reclaimed, recycled and sustainable architectural timber. Our vision for the future is one where our great grandchildren benefit from us planting trees. Future Forest was born from this idea, what has followed is an initiative that has grown beyond our humble first intentions.

WHAT DO WE DO?

It’s simple. We plant a tree for every tree we use.

HOW WILL WE DO THAT?By investing now. Our core company belief is that timber is the smartest environmentally low impact and sustainably viable material to use in construction. By replanting Australian timber across private land today, we are guaranteeing supply within our country for tomorrow.

WHY WE CAREOur family business sustains itself with this wonderful product, as do rural communities. Our plantations create long term employment, are carbon reducing and replenish the Australian natural landscape back to its original state. We love trees, timber, our countryside and the people in it.

OUR COMMITMENTOur investment, everyone’s future. We want to continue to use Australia’s beautiful timbers to build homes and infrastructure. To do this we must act now for the future of our industry. We are committed to supplying timber and caring for our environment long past our own careers.

OUR GOALSBecause we hold these strong beliefs in the future of timber, we want our initiative to become an industry wide practice. We aim to become a global leader in sustainable timber supply process by showing our industry that good practice is possible. We aspire to reduce the demands of timber taken from ancient forests of countries with little regulation, to stop deforestation for ourselves and our neighbours by keeping a localised and environmentally positive supply chain.

HOW YOU CAN HELPBy purchasing Ironwood Australia timber you are helping to support the Future Forest sustainable re-planting scheme. Contact Ironwood at [email protected] for more information.

It’s simple. We plant a tree for every tree we use.

SUSTAINABILITY

One of our Future Forests plantations with mixed species Australian hardwoods. These young healthy trees native to the area are only 18 months old.

We continue to educate youth about tree planting and the importance of timber, the only truly sustainable building product.
