take place on Wednesday, January 10
at 6:30 pm at the Link Lounge.

and are also attached. All
orders are DUE by THURS,

Thank you to everyone who has
participated in the Box Top Program. The
PTA will be starting a Box Tops Classroom
contest. The first contest will start in
December, the class that submits the
most Box Tops will win the contest. So
start saving those Box Tops. Additional
information is included in the attached
flyer.
Please send in to the school office any
UPCs from Labels for Education food
products that have been collected
by Tuesday, December 19th. This
program is ending for good on January 2,
2018 so this is the last chance ever to
submit any collections.

Mrs. Ann Smith would like to collect pop tabs to donate
to The Ronald McDonald House. This will be an on-
going Link Cares project. Can you please get your kids
involved too? It really costs no money and time. It is an
easy and thoughtful way to help others and have our
students show kindness.

decided to open up sales 1 more
time for those who missed out.

Toy Drive for Rush
University Hospital
December 1st-December 15th
All toys will be donated to Rush University Hospital
throughout the year to children. Donations must be
new and in their original packaging and non-violent.
There will be a box in front of the office. Thank you for
helping us spread kindness during the holiday season.

December 8: Sweater Day - Ugly? Your choice. Everyone
will cozy up with their favorite (or ugliest) sweater.
December 15: Frozen Day! Wear any icy apparel that you
have at home. Disney Frozen, hockey jerseys, snow hat, or
anything else you may have that is icy.

Peppy Quinoa
1/8 cup Pepitas/Pumpkin Seeds
1-1/4 cups Quinoa, dry
1 Tbsp Low-sodium chicken base
1/2 cup Fresh onion, peeled and diced
1/2 cup canned diced green chilies
2-1/4 tsp Fresh garlic, minced
1/2 cup Fresh cilantro, chopped
2-4 Tbsp Fresh lime juice (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F
2. Toast pepitas in oven for 10 minutes or
until light brown and aromatic. Set
aside.
3. Rinse quinoa in a fine mesh strainer until
water runs clear, not cloudy. Combine
quinoa, 2-1/2 cups water, and chicken
base in a small pot. Cover and bring to
boil. Turn heat down to low and simmer
until the water is completely absorbed,
about 10-15 minutes. When done,
quinoa will be soft and a white ring will
pop out o the kernel. The white ring will
appear only when it is fully cooked. Fluff
with a fork. Set aside. A rice cooker may
be used with the same quantity of
quinoa, water, and chicken base.
4. Mix quinoa, onions, green chilies, and
garlic in an 8” X 8” nonstick baking pan
sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
Cover and bake at 350 degree F for 40
minutes.
5. Toss in cilantro, green onions, pepitas,
and optional lime juice to taste. Serve
hot.

Link PTA Announces...Box Tops Classroom Contest!
We will run a Box Tops contest from Friday, December 1st through Tuesday, December 19th. The
classroom winner will receive a SPECIAL REWARD!
Our Goals
• To raise $1,000 in free money for our kids over the course of the school year • 100% participation - even if it's just one Box Top! • If each student brought in 25 Box Tops it would mean nearly $1,500 for Link's amazing kids and
teachers - we can do this!
What to clip and save
Clip, save, and submit all Box Tops and bonus certificates. Each valid* box top is worth 1 point (bonus
certificates will be worth the number of bonus points ex. 10 bonus box tops = 10 points). The classroom
with the highest number of valid* Box Tops submitted will be our winners.
*Please submit only unexpired Box Tops in which the expiration date and value is clearly visible. Only valid
Box Tops can be submitted for credit.
How to submit your Box Tops
1. Place the collected Box Tops in a zip top bag or on a collection sheet (you can print one from the Link PTA website on the "Hotline and Forms" page).
2. Be sure your room number/teacher's name is clearly marked on the bag/sheet. 3. Bring it to your teacher, or the Link office.
