Dementia Dialogue: Wednesdays beginning on January 3 at 10:30 a.m. for 5 weeks. Presented by Michael Backman and Jolene Wilkinson. Please sign up
for this class.
Sign Language: Every Tuesday & Thursday at 10:30 a.m. beginning January 16 thru March 8. We need at
least nine people to sign up to have this class.
AARP Defensive Driving: January 24 from
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Senator Lee: January 31 at 12:00 p.m. Justin Anthony from the Senator’s office will be here to talk to
the seniors and answer questions.
January Celebration: Join us on Tuesday, January
2 at 10:45 a.m. to celebrate all members born in Janu-
ary. Everyone with a January birthday receives a free
baked good and a prize. We need everyone planning to
attend lunch this day to sign up in advance so we can
order enough meals. If you have signed up but are not
at the center by 11:00 you run the risk of your
reservation being forfeited and tickets will be given out
on a first come basis. Thanks to our Advisory
Committee for sponsoring this event. Entertainment by
Larry Turner. Please sign up at the front desk by
December 29.
Red Hats : January Gathering will be at West Jordan
Senior Center on January 11 at 12:30. The Red Hats are
always looking for new members. If you are interested
in joining please let the front desk know.
Vital Aging Project: Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. “Reminiscing My Life Story”. The process of thinking back on our life and then communicating with others about those experiences is called a “life review”. As we age, we want to know and pass on how we have touched others’ lives and understand how others have touched our lives. As a part of this class, we will reminisce about our past and reflect about present experiences to help us put our

Enhance Fitness: Join us each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:00 p.m. for this fantastic exercise program. It is guaranteed to make a difference.
Tai Chi: Join us each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 or 10:45 for this exercise class.
Yoga: Every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Gentle movement
Chikung: Join us each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. This is a warm up to Tai Chi.
Drums Alive: Thursdays at 10:30. Donation based class.
Senior Walking Program: Begins October 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018. Tuesday & Thursdays only from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Gene Fulmer. Free use of the walking track only. Only participants eligible for Senior Center Memberships are allowed; any other attendees must pay daily pass fee. Participants must sign in each time they use the walking track throughout the program.
Ballroom Dancing: Every Monday at 1:30 p.m.
This is a donation class.

Mission: Promoting independence through advocacy, engagement and access to resources.
This five week class will help you learn the basic facts of dementia.
Learn Communication Skills
Prepare the Environment—Safety
Address Challenging Behavior
Creative Problem Solving
If you know someone that has dementia or would like to learn more about dementia
this class is for you. There class is presented by the Office for the Study of Aging and
the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Please sign up so we can have enough materials. This class is on Wednesdays in
January beginning January 3 at 10:30.
Make sure you check our Facebook page for up to date activities or classes that may
not have made the newsletter.
December had some great community partners and volunteer groups. Visiting Angels,
Artic Circle, Golden Coral, Village Inn, Smiths, Applebee’s all donated prizes for our
Holiday meal and Visiting Angels helped serve at the meal. Copper Hills High School
Madrigals performed for us. Whenever possible please support our community part-ners who support us.
