The Past, Present and FutureBefore you read this let me warn you that these are the confessions of a lad whose experienced a transition from college to the corporate world for hardly 4-5 months. This need not be what life is yet to unveil, but face it, these are my thoughts right now.

The Past:So many expectations when you join college. Starting off with a bag, as a matter of So many expectations when you join college. Starting off with a bag, as a matter of fact, a book for every subject, a pen and of course money. My nostrils sense the smell of those neatly covered brown note books......so sweet. Towards the latter part of your college life, you clearly have no bag, you borrow one of the many orphan books lying in the classroom, and a pen from the geeks. As for the money, when time passes by, every coin counts. You and your buddies dig deep in to gather up cash to atleast to buy a candy. You finally enjoy the victorious moment with everyone who participated in the gamble. The game gets unfair when onlookwith everyone who participated in the gamble. The game gets unfair when onlook-ers join in.

How can we forget the glorious moments walking between hostel and college. The first two years witness a very lame memory of shops you walk past, with large, stern looking Gundas, watching every move you make, leaning on those walls and just waiting. The lame memory owes to the fact that you literally zoom past these events to escape embarassing encounters of any sort. The latter years reflect a re-alisation that the gangsters were infact your own college mates trying to act cool. So instead of zooming past them, we exchange college greetings, small and long conversations that can go for hoursconversations that can go for hours

We we had a prejudice of college to be a replica of those movies with partners, money, jazzy clothes and sporty cars, and it all turns out to be the other way round. We become individuals who have learnt to live it the hard way. Analyse, adjust with any ***hole that comes your way, and survive in any evergreen savannah forest you put us in.

As the chariot of time passes by, the events transform like a phoenix that burns to its ashes. What remains are treasured possessions called memories....so strong, so sweet.

The Present

Talk about those elevators!!You get into a lift filled with robots, also called the co-orporate folks. No exchange You get into a lift filled with robots, also called the co-orporate folks. No exchange of smiles nor emotions. You tightly hold your precious “Personal Space” and can sense no visible motion of anyone breathing. As these folks move out, you are left with a few peers who still have some more of the diminshing youth deep inside. Bursts of laughter, ridicule, and relaxation. Finally a few moments you can cherish.

A conversation please.....Its been a while since you've had a real conversation with anyone. All I have con-versed about during the last few months is on how beautiful/dull the day is or how the weather/food is. It sounds so identical and boring. Small talk, Phew! I'm done with adult conversations. Earlier, all we had were late night conversations and chattering..... whatever did we talk about??!!

Foooood:Hmm. ....Days when it was sufficient to survive on samoosa's and lime of Zam-Zam. The truth is that you can never trade anything for a spicy, tasty, delicious whole-some “Sadhya” for a burger or pizza. Savouring every grain of rice on your banana leaf till you lick the last drop on the tip if your finger. Its too precious. Now you worry about dining ettiquette, forks and spoons and the other things you were least both-ered about, instead of the food.

Trinnnnng!!My phone was famously called a “mulberry” for its extravagant look and for the royal treatment I gave it during the early days. (Pure sarcasism). Now the irony is that I have a better phone, with no pet name. A huge phone bal-ance but no one to ring.

Vaynoking:In college, goosebumps, squeaks and squeals, watching a handsome young man walk into the room. And those the expressive glances you give to people who know you best. Now, despite the fact that the entire room is filled with good-looking guys and sexy chicks, your heart fails to skip a beat anymore. The rare event turns to be some-thing not out of the ordinary. You search for a familiar face to give those glances, but the room looks like greek to you.

Theatres and ticketsLong never ending queues in the theatre, bearing the constant nagging from your male counterparts just for those prized first show tickets. Now these diamonds are just a click away.

Bus ridesThose bus rides, with robots as its passengers, devices in ears, listening to different Those bus rides, with robots as its passengers, devices in ears, listening to different types of music, each in their own world of fantasy, constantly wondering how they landed up here just like everyone else.

LOVESoon we forget about respect and sincerity, we stop believing that love is patient, Soon we forget about respect and sincerity, we stop believing that love is patient, kind and not envious. We understand that love was only a bed time story that vis-ited us in the form of movies. It shielded us from the truth, that love was not a big deal afterall.

The FUTURE:Every child opens its eyes to see his parents delight on reading their new born's future.

When I was a kid, it was a hobby to bang my mothers precious aluminium vessels When I was a kid, it was a hobby to bang my mothers precious aluminium vessels (which acted as my drum set) with spoons and forks (my drum sticks). My proud mother almost knew that I would grow up to be a great musician. Well destiny promised me a cranky voice, without the skill to neither hold a guitar, play a simple tune on the piano nor maintain my rhythm on a drum set. So many expectations, dreams from within and around you, but the force within me had lost its battle. I lost an opportunity to master in a musical instrument which would be an aid to trade my emotions.my emotions.

All those skills that everyone expected out of us, made us almost believe that we were good enough to be president. As one door of opportunity closed, we were soon searching for the window, When exactly do we stop doing what we enjoy? Why do we stop making our dreams a reality? Our creator is waiting for us to do something special in our lives Why are we scared to take that leap of risk? What do we end up finally doing?

Is it possible to do what you love doing, be what you really are, cause there really is no point in putting that mask with a fake smile.

So to end in a positive note, while you are out there getting where you are getting So to end in a positive note, while you are out there getting where you are getting to, make sure your dreams stay big and worries stay small. I dont have the key line to success, but do believe that everything happens for a reason. All the best :-)
