WORLD AIDS DAY Every year on December 1st we observe World AIDS Day, a time for the world to unite in the fight against HIV. At the World Aids Day kick -opress conference, I spoke about my longtime dedication to this cause as we honored and remembered those who fought for recognition of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, many with their dying breath. Education and health empowerment are imperative in the fight to prevent the spread of HIV. If you don’t know your status, you can visit this link for information on low- to no-cost health clinics that provide HIV testing. Community Boards encourage participation in city government at the local level. The boards facilitate ecient and eective organization of agencies that deliver municipal services in local communities and boroughs. Thank you to Brooklyn's CB10 Chair Doris Cruz and District Manager Josephine Beckman for discussing with me issues facing our seniors, and my Textalyzer Bill (A03955B). For more information on the bill click here. TIME TO PAY FOR MASS TRANSIT REPAIRS Subway delays and overall unreliable service have very real costs for Brooklyn residents; time spent stuck on the subway is time away from families, work, and other priorities. Last Spring, the MTA proposed its Fast Forward plan to fix the subways, an eort that will cost tens of billions of dollars. The state needs to enact congestion pricing, which will raise up to $1.7 billion for transit improvements per year to fund this eort. Read my op-ed in favor of mass transit and congestion pricing in the Red Hook Star-Revue here. HAPPY CHANUKAH TO ALL THOSE CELEBRATING THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS The Menorah represents the spirit of the Jewish people in the face of persecution and hardship brought on by tyrants. After a recent increase in anti-Semitic acts especially the attack in Pittsburgh we must commit ourselves to reemerging as a nation that lights the way for the rest of the world through acceptance and understanding, and through intolerance toward hate. Bigotry is insidious, and we cannot let these hateful acts infiltrate our communities, religious or otherwise. Chanukah reminds us that that when we are united, we can overcome any obstacle.

HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN

My office is collecting NEW and UNWRAPPED toys for NYC's homeless children in partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless. Our Holiday Toy Drive is already off to a great start! Together we can make the holidays magical for homeless children in the city!

Donations can be dropped at my office located at 5004 4th Ave, Brooklyn NY 11220 Monday-Friday 9:30am to 5:30pm until December 13th.

WORLD AIDS DAY

Every year on December 1st we observe World AIDS Day, a time for the world to unite in the fight against HIV.

At the World Aids Day kick-off press conference, I spoke about my longtime dedication to this cause as we honored and remembered those who fought for recognition of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, many with their dying breath.  Education and health empowerment are imperative in the fight to prevent the spread of HIV. If you don’t know your status, you can visit this link for information on low- to no-cost health clinics that provide HIV testing.

Community Boards encourage participation in city government at the local level. The boards facilitate efficient and effective

organization of agencies that deliver municipal services in local communities and boroughs. Thank you to Brooklyn's CB10 Chair

Doris Cruz and District Manager Josephine Beckman for discussing with me issues facing our seniors, and my Textalyzer Bill (A03955B).

TIME TO PAY FOR MASS TRANSIT REPAIRS

Subway delays and overall unreliable service have very real costs for Brooklyn

residents; time spent stuck on the subway is time away from families, work, and other priorities. Last Spring, the MTA

proposed its Fast Forward plan to fix the subways, an effort that will cost tens of billions of dollars. The state needs to

enact congestion pricing, which will raise up to $1.7 billion for transit

improvements per year to fund this effort. Read my op-ed in favor of mass transit

and congestion pricing in the Red Hook Star-Revue here.

HAPPY CHANUKAH TO ALL THOSE CELEBRATING THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

The Menorah represents the spirit of the Jewish people in the face of persecution and hardship brought on by tyrants. After a recent increase in anti-Semitic acts – especially the attack in Pittsburgh – we must commit ourselves to reemerging as a nation that lights the way for the rest of the world through acceptance and understanding, and through intolerance toward hate. Bigotry is insidious, and we cannot let these hateful acts infiltrate our communities, religious or otherwise.

Chanukah reminds us that that when we are united, we can overcome any obstacle.
