Greetings to All !

As we all know, Hon’ble MLA Sri. V. Prabhakar Chowdary garu launched the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’

near Municipal Office on Thursday. The cleanliness campaign was inaugurated in the State to emphasise and

enhance the importance of hygiene and proper sanitation among the public to pave the way for national

development.

Hon'ble Mayor and Municipal Commissioner inaugurated "Ananda Lahari" Programme in

Anantapur, As a part of preserving and promoting the glorious history and culture of Telugu language and

Telugu people. Classical and folk dances, karaoke, magic, mimicry and folk songs comprised the inaugural

‘Ananda lahari’ programme organised by AMC and the Culture Department of Andhra Pradesh.

As a part of City Initiatives, ‘Poster free city’ initiative has been initiated by Anantapur Municipal

Corporation. An agency has been engaged for carrying out painting works duly following the established

procedures and norms.

Deworming day is a day dedicated to deworm all the school going children of the country to

give them a healthy digestive system. It is a government mission aimed to reduce the cases of worm infection

among kids all over India. oAs a part of Dewarming day Hon'ble Mayor, Council mebers along with MHO and

other Health Officers participated in a rally to create awareness on dewarming and supplied medicines to the

school people.

Mission on 17-9-2017 in Anantapur. The cleanliness

campaign was inaugurated in the State to emphasise and

enhance the importance of hygiene and proper sanitation

among the public to pave the way for national

development. As a part of this Programme Hon’ble MLA

appealed to the staff of Municipal Corporation and their

families to keep their home and the campus clean and set

an example for the others to follow.

The city was abuzz on Gandhi Jayanthi on Monday with

the State government conducting the ‘Swachhate Seva’

(cleanliness is service) campaign under Swacha Bharat

Mission. The roads, particularly Sapthagiri Circle and Sai

Nagar, appeared spic and span as the Anantapuramu

Municipal Corporation (AMC) laid special emphasis on

sweeping these areas.

The garbage was left uncollected alongside the roads in

many places across the city and as part of this programme

the situation is changed tremendously .

Poster Free City

‘Poster free city’ which is an initiative envisaged by the

Hon’ble Chief Minister as a step towards aesthetic cities

was commenced by the Anantapur Municipal Corporation

during the month of May. As an initial step, posters were

removed along all the major stretches in the city. This

month an agency has been engaged for the Painting

works duly following the established procedures and

norms. Concepts for paintings were finalized based on

local culture by maintaining the asthetics of the place.

As a part of preserving and promoting the glorious history and culture of Telugu language

and Telugu people, the AP Culture and Tourism department is conducting a novel programme in

the name of Ananda Lahari, in all the 13 district headquarters on Sunday. Hon'ble Mayor and

Municipal Commissioner inaugurated "Ananda Lahari" Programme in Anantapur. Classical and

folk dances, karaoke, magic, mimicry and folk songs comprised the inaugural ‘Ananda lahari’

programme organised by Anantapur Municipal Corporation and the Culture Department of

Andhra Pradesh in Sarada School at 1st Road on Sunday.

Notwithstanding the pressure tactics by a section of traders, the Municipal administration is

planning to go ahead with a sustained drive against illegal encroachments. As a part of this

decision meeting was convened by the Municipal Commissioner with Town planning Officials to

chart out strategies to reduce congestion on roads and also to secure the Governments sites by

removing all unauthorised and illegal Constructions.

Admitting as a fact of the situation, the AMC Commissioner said every platform/ pavement of

municipality is being encroached making it out of bounds for pedestrians. It is the duty of

municipality to remove encroachments on the platforms, he stated. The municipality has already

served notices to persons who had allegedly encroached the government poramboke lands, road

and streets and set a deadline for their removal. The official added, “We are not against anybody

and we are for public. The encroachers should realise their mistake.”

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana was launched in June 2015

with an aim to provide affordable housing to urban poor.

Under PMAY, it is proposed to build houses for urban poor

including Economically Weaker Sections and Low Income

Groups in urban areas by the year 2022 through a financial

assistance from central government. This Mission has four

components viz., In-situ Slum Redevelopment with private

sector participation using land as resource, Affordable Housing through Credit Linked Subsidy,

Affordable Housing in Partnership with private and public sector and Beneficiary led house

construction/enhancement. Under this housing for all scheme applications verification had been

started by our AMC Officials.

Government of Andhra Pradesh, issued orders to conduct massive campaign on control of

mosquito menace naming “Domalapai Dandayatra - Parisarala Parishubratha”. As per the

instructions rallies were being conducted every month and the program continued in the month

of September as well.

Door to door campaigns were held with full involvement of Municipal Staff for making people

aware of precautionary measures to prevent mosquitoes and thus to prevent seasonal diseases

caused by them.

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Development Project

(APMDP) is a 200 Crores project being

implemented by Government of Andhra Pradesh

(GoAP) in Anantapur with support from World

Bank. The Project is aimed at improving urban

services in ULB mainly in water supply sector. The

project will also support improvements in the

financial, technical, and management capacities of

all ULBs of Andhra Pradesh through technical assistance to sustain the infrastructures being

created. As a part of APMDP Scheme pipeline distribution network laying had been taken place in

the Municipal Corporation to provide 24x7 water supply in the entire town. At present 60% of

the work had been completed in the Anantapur town.

Engineers’ Day is celebrated on September 15

every year in India commemorating the birthday of

one of the greatest engineers in India so far and a

great human being Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya.

Sir MV was internationally popular for his brilliance

and his great achievement in harnessing water resources in India. He had successfully designed

and constructed several river dams, bridges and revolutionized the irrigation system in India by

implementing irrigation and drinking water system all over India. As a part of this day Hon'ble

Mayor along with the AMC Engineering Department Officials celebrated the Engineers day.

Hon’ble Mayor M.Swaroopa in the presence of

Municipal commissioner has held meeting with all

the sections of ULB officials to review the progress of

all the developmental activities in the city.

Discussions were held on Urban Beautification,

Desiltation of drains, Repair of roads, Tree Plantation

Program, Encroachment Removals, Birth & Death Registration and Repair of School Toilets. She

has instructed the ULB staff to carry out the works in a planned manner. Progress of AMRUT

Scheme works, 13th Finance Commission, SC&ST Sub plan were also reviewed.
