1. She was born and raised in Michigan. 2.She was the first author of American young adultliterature to give a presentation for the European
Parliament.3. She is the daughter of a Lithuanian refugee.
4. She was featured in Rolling Stone magazine's "Women inRock" as a woman driven to make a difference.
5. Her newest book Salt to the Sea will be coming out in 2016.
Ruta Sepetys will be joining us via Skype on December 7during co-curricular. Please help us ensure this event is a
success by encouraging your students to attend! Topics ofdiscussion will include her extensive research on WWII
history and life in 1950s New Orleans, the writing process,and learning from the atrocities of genocide.
