Endearingly called the City of Pearls, the charming Hyderabad still exudes a waft of a regal past. One of Nizams and the beautiful maidens, rich and enchanting landmarks, shahi food, expensive jewellery, and warm-hearted people. This city bears a distinct divide of the old and the new.

To an ardent traveler, Hyderabad offers a fascinating panorama of the past, with a richly mixed cultural and historical tradition spanning 400 colorful years. A treat for lovers of history, art, architecture with several ornate tombs, palaces, mosques adorning the old city, the new metropolitan is set to charm with its well-designed and immaculately planned tourist spots, delightful shopping destinations and many hill stations close by.H

The newly formed state of Telangana has already attracted foreign investors as it is now the fast emerging state for new investments for MNCs. And the city of Hyderabad has emerged as a destination for global players viz. Google, Amazon, Uber, Ikea, Micromax, Karbonn and Foxconn. The state IT Minister, Shri K.T. Rama Rao has remarked: ‘We have Facebook’s India operations headquartered in Hyderabad, apart from Microsoft, we already have Amazon, Google and Uber setting up their operations in Hyderabad which is the largest set up outside USA.’

However, Google Inc. will build its biggest campus outside the US, in Hyderabad for an investment of Rs.1, 000 crore. The 2 million square feet facility, the Internet giant’s first company-owned campus in Asia, will house 13,000 employees when it is ready by 2019.

Meanwhile, Telangana IT minister, Shri K.T. Rama Rao who on his official visit to the US, signed the agreement with Google Inc. at its headquarters at Mountain View, California, under which the state government will allocate the company 7.2 acres in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli locality. Google currently operates out of a leased facility in Kondapur locality in the city and employs about 7,000 people. Once the new campus is completed, Google’s Hyderabad headcount will nearly double.

I am sure you are aware that Google has over 70 offices in 40 countries, including four in India:

Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurgaon and Hyderabad. Shri Rama Rao said on micro blogging site Twitter that he is excited to announce that Google & Govt of Telangana have inked an MoU to build their largest campus (outside US).

Google expects the facility to be complete and fully operational in about four years and is supposed to start before the summer of 2019. And after 12 months of planning, construction of the facility will start in 2016, as reported by David Radcliff, Google’s global head for facilities and workplaces, who signed the agreement on Google’s behalf.

Google has also agreed to support specific requests made by the minister to utilize Street View for monitoring of deviations from approved building plans, property tax collection, mapping of industrial land bank located in different parts of the state, to name a few. After coming to power, the Telangana government has been trying to showcase Hyderabad as an investor-friendly destination. Google will also examine the feasibility of contributing its high-speed wired broadband service Google Fiber in Telangana.

Google Inc. is likely to hold the groundbreaking ceremony for its proposed new campus in Hyderabad during the first quarter of 2016.Google has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government for setting up one of the largest campuses outside of USA and it would be the first-ever own campus in the country with an estimated investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Google Chief Executive, Sunder Pichai, on his first official visit to India said that Google would set up a new campus in Hyderabad and invest both in engineering and business development in India as well as work to increase internet access and develop products that are lighter and faster. Meanwhile, the state government is in discussions with 10 to 15 companies for setting up their shops in the state. And with the start of Google in the new campus in Hyderabad, more people will be hired.Mr. Pichai said that the American multinational technology company was working towards including as many people as possible in the use of internet in India, and then

added to say that the Google will develop products in India that have global usage.Mr. Pichai laid out Google’s three-step approach to promote the Internet in India.First, Google aims to give people in India and other developing countries better access to full internet through better connectivity and high-quality software. Second, Google is making Google products work better for Indians. And Google wants to make it easier for Indians to build on top of Google’s global platforms like Android and Chrome to build solutions to local problems. He also pointed out how women are lagging behind in Internet use in India and underlined that it is important that sizeable number of women should have access to Internet. By 2018, more than 500 million users will be online in India, from all 29 states, speaking over 23 languages. But in 2020, over 30 percent of mobile Internet will still be from 2G connections. As stated by Rajan Anandan, Vice President of Google in India and Southeast Asia, Google has been on a long journey in India to build products that connect more people, regardless of cost, connectivity, language, gender, or location.
