Come check out
this great group of
kids!
1. Play Raindrops (that Pre-
Twinkle song from a long time ago)
but use your left hand pinkie to pizzicato the E string.
2. Squeeze a wooden clothespin between your pinky and your thumb and
hold it for five seconds at a time. Make sure the pinky and thumb are
curved.
3. Practice your scales without using any open strings, use your pinkie fin-
ger instead.
4. Sevcik exercises. Many of Sevcik’s beginning exercises work on
strengthening the pinkie finger. They are available for free at
www.imslp.org.
On Saturday, November 10, SIUE Suzuki Program students
were invited to Webster Community School to have a mas-
terclass and concert with the Euclid Quartet. Students were
able to work with professional musicians, hear and perform
a world premiere of Symphonies of Stringed Instruments and
enjoy the chamber music of the Euclid Quartet. Thank you to
Vera Parkin for coordinating this extraordinary opportunity
for all of our students!
