ISSUE

From Our Administrator, Malti Naidu on behalf of the Staff, children and Management of

REACH, by the Visram Foundation, Pune, India

Dear Donors and Friends,

First of all I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Visram Foundation to wish all of you a Merry

Christmas and a Happy New Year. Yes, Christmas is in the air and everything appears so Christmassy!

As days become short and nights long and burr...Cold, as the evening sun sets upon REACH and as the day merges

into night, our hands rise in prayer.

Yes, all the 119 children here at REACH and myself, pray in unison to the Almighty and thank him for all our well-

wishers and donors. As we celebrate our many Santas and the million stars that smile upon us right now, once again I

wish you and your family love, peace, health and joy and of course every success in the coming year! God bless you

all and thank you for your unstinted support.

A Brand New Reach The Institute opened on June 13th, 2011 (the new

academic year) with a newly renovated building. The

entire summer break was devoted to renovating the

existing structure and converting it into a peace zone

by our Trustees.

The entire building was renovated at a significant

cost.

The dormitories were painted afresh in bright colors,

as conventional wisdom as well as psychological

research has proven that there is a deep connection

between the environment and a general sense of well

-being and bonhomie.

There are six dormitories which have been renovated

and painted RED, YELLOW, BLUE, GREEN,

ORANGE and PURPLE. All the rooms have been

fitted with wall mounted child safety fans. Brand

new matching curtains and bed sheets were purchased which the children were

thrilled about and additional storage space has been created for storing the

belongings of the children.

Also prior to the renovations each room had a single toilet and a single bathroom

but post renovations the existing bath and toilet space have been divided in such a

manner that every room/dormitory has two bathrooms and two toilets each.

High speed pedestal fans have now been installed to factor in the comfort of the children! The entire exterior façade of the

building has been completely redone, together with exterior or fences, gardens, etc.

Kudos to the Trustees for the time spent by them musing about the welfare of the children. The attention to every minute detail

relating to the well-being of the children speaks volumes about their commitment to our cause and of the underprivileged girl

child.

We have also revamped our website www.visramfoundation.com to make it extremely user friendly for donations online. In

addition, a donor can now sponsor an “individual child” online. Please go to our website and we are sure you would it valuable.

Our girls made it to Dastur (Pune Private Schools)

Sardar Dastur Junior college Camp renowned for is excellent

academic standards welcomed our young scholars into its fold.

Dreams do come true is what Dasturian, Almas Khoja,

proclaimed when she held her college calendar in her hands

for the first time. We at REACH are proud parents because all

our children, who are at Dastur, made it on the basis of their

merit.

Out of our 12 students who appeared for their class 10 exams,

six achieved above 80%. The Principal of Sardar Dastur Junior

College, Mrs. Kamte applauded the Foundation for its

commitment to the cause of the underprivileged girl child.

Quality education does come at a premium however. Our

Trustees with their eye on the bright future of the children felt

that it would be imprudent to compromise on their intellectual growth and overall development of which a good school is the vital

ingredient. Many of our students come from homes where no one has had the benefit of higher education and hence most of them

have a deep sense of obligation to the Foundation for helping them leap forward in life and, hopefully, one day ascend in careers

that will make us all proud.

Girl of the Month

Priya Wadhwaniya. Priya is a student of class 7 and has been selected as girl of the month through

popular vote. Her Institute I.D. No. is 7 and she comes from Surendera Nagar district in Gujarat. She is

a highly talented, intelligent and disciplined girl. She is a great painter and her paintings qualify to be

called masterpieces. She wants to paint the world in different hues.

Her parents are truly grateful to REACH as the Institute has given their daughter what they could not

hope for or ever give her in terms of education, self-confidence, a world view and a dream to pursue

excellence.

An extremely helpful girl, Priya is also known as the nightingale of REACH as she is blessed with a

beautiful voice. She has participated in several singing, drawing and painting competitions and needless

to say she has won laurels for the same.

She wants to become a Neurosurgeon or pursue a course in NANO technology. She wants to help the

Institute by donating a part of her monthly income i.e. once she starts earning but at this point she wants

to do her bit by helping her colleagues with their studies.

Priya believes in leading by example and she says, “I want to be so perfect in my life so that I can

become an example for others to follow”.

Your generous gift will keep our children’s faith alive.

Dreams will become realities!

Your contribution is tax deductible and a receipt will be provided

Our Dedicated Staff They say the mother does but to be like a mother and to do like her now that’s a real question. Our staff members are more than parents to the children

and they do go beyond what is required of them. Their dedication is truly exemplary as there is never a moment of dereliction of duty on their part. In fact

the children vouch for their love and dedication. Our ex-student Ms. Karishma Ratani states the following regarding Ms. Zubeida Dhanani ,“Bai Ma

(translated Mother) has given me a lot of love and care, she never deterred us from

keeping the lights switched on while we studied , even though it meant that she had to

compromise on her sleep.”

Post the commencement of the new academic session we hired a new Matron,

Ms.Yasmin Panjwani and an Assistant Matron Ms. Rozina Chaunara.

In Housekeeping and the Kitchen we have dedicated employees such as Ms. Zubeida

Lalani, Ms. Zubeida Dhanani and Ms. Afsana Padaniya who are the resident staff

members, and assisting them are Ms. Rukmini and Ms. Suman. We also have two full

time drivers, Mr. Santosh Mansurpally and Mr. Yuvraj Ambole who transport the

children to and from their respective schools round the clock. We have an in house

gardener, Michele, who visits weekly and does the gardens every Sunday. Heading the

operations is our Administrator, Mrs. Malti Naidu who is a Post Graduate in

Psychology with a Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling.

Our working Trustee Mr. Rafiq Merchant frequently visits the Institute to ensure

smooth functioning of the day to day operations. True is the fact that loving care and

patience is what is required to create masterpieces.
