HOLIDAY TRADING HOURS BTI will be closing at 12:00 noon on Wednesday 23 December 2009. Last orders by 10:30am please. WHERE ARE MY BOARDSHORTS? We will re-open for business at 8:30am on Wednesday 6 January 2010. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS! After undergoing long-overdue surgery to their back and neck (respectively), Maggie and Graham have been back on deck for a while now. Mark is wondering what on earth his turn will entail! It’s a crazy old market at present. After a solid winter, with growth on 2008 experienced in June though August, spring just hasn’t sprung. November 2009 was our quiet- est November in four years. If your order book is not as full as you’d like, it appears you are certainly not alone. Although the Westpac economists have been the first to break from the pack and forecast strong growth in 2010, we remain cautious in our expectations. Growth in building consents should see a improve- ment in demand for fences, gates and balustrades how- ever we are not seeing wholesale improvements in demand in the product segments we service. To us, it looks like a slow grind upwards from this point, rather than the now-famous ‘V-shaped curve’. In fact, at a recent economics seminar, the National Bank head economist was warning that any un-warranted spike in the housing market would almost certainly result in a near-term (next 1-2 years) recession much deeper and prolonged than the one we have experienced over the past 18 months. Ouch! Before the Christmas message - an apology. Some of you have been experiencing out-of-stock situations on important items - particularly sliding gate track. We have been experiencing unexpected and unsatisfactory ship- ping delays out of Europe. All we can do is apologise for any inconvenience caused and promise to do our utmost to ensure it does not recur. Thank you for your support in 2009, we really do value your business. As we head into the holiday season we trust that you get the chance to relax, reflect and focus on what is most important to you. We wish you a joyous Christmas, refreshing holiday break and a happy and rewarding New Year. With best wishes, Mark, Maggie & Graham REMINDER: ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DRAW All invoices issued between 2 November and 18 December will enter the Christmas prize draw.
