Last Week Our program last week, introduced by
Greg Smith, was Sarah Naumowich, Presi-dent of Morton Plant North Bay Hospital. She opened with saying, “Yesterday at 8:00 a.m. we opened our new Emergency Room.” In 1965 the hospital was built and named the West Pasco Hospital. They have invested 120 million dollars in the last ten years. It is the only non profit hospital in Pasco. They now have 150 beds. 120 are for acute care and 30 for rehabilitation. North Bay is part of Morton Plant Mease, which is part of Bay Care Health. They have several facilities in New Port Richey and Trinity. In 2016 North Bay opened their new front entrance. In 2017 they opened the Emergency Room with 28 private treatment rooms and a 15 bed observation unit. There are two triage rooms and eight minor medical emergency rooms. As part of a Get Well Network, they have a Virtual ICU, an extra team of experts and ARNP’s throughout the night in the ICU center. Patients go home and are connected with a nurse through the computer. They can ask questions and get answers. Sarah closed with, “Thank you for your time.” She then opened the floor for questions and answers.
We would like to thank Sarah for an in-teresting and informative program. A book will be donated in her name to the Richey Elementary School Library.

Christmas Partyby Brenda Glass
Our Christmas Party was held at the Elks on Congress in New Port Richey on December 16th. The Commodore Brass Quintet played wonderful Christmas music during the reception and after dinner there was plenty of dancing to Gary Gann and the Time Bandits. It was a lovely evening with a fantastic group of community leaders.

Top Ten Things To SayAbout Bad Christmas Gifts10. Hey! There’s a gift! 9. Well, well, well ...8. Boy, if I had not recently shot up 4 sizes
that would’ve fit.7. This is perfect for wearing around the
basement.6. Gosh. I hope this never catches fire! It
is fire season though. There are lots of unexplained fires.
5. If the dog buries it, I’ll be furious! 4. I love it – but I fear the jealousy it will
inspire.3. Sadly, tomorrow I enter the Federal Wit-
ness Protection Program.2. To think – I got this the
year I vowed to give all my gifts to charity.
And the Number One Thing to say about a Christmas gift you don’t like:1. I really don’t deserve
this.
MistletoeShortly before Christmas, a business
man was anxious to get home. The busi-ness trip had been grueling and he was not in a particularly good mood. The airport loudspeakers blared Christmas carols he was sick of hearing. He thought their decora-tions were tacky. The worst decoration, he thought, was the plastic mistletoe hung over the luggage scale.
Being in a grumpy mood, he said to the woman at the counter, “You know, even if I weren’t married, I wouldn’t kiss you.”
“That’s not what it’s there for,” said the attendant. “It’s so you can kiss your luggage goodbye.”
Dear Santa…Just before Christmas, two brothers
were spending the night at their Grandma’s house. At bed time, they knelt down to say their prayers.
As they closed their eyes, one boy said in a very loud voice, “Dear Lord, please ask Santa Claus to bring me a Wii, a telescope and a new bike.”
Irritated, his older brother asked, “Why are you shouting? God isn’t deaf.”
“I know,” said the little brother, “but Grandma is.”
Merry Christmas!

Declaration of Rotarians in Business and ProfessionsAs a Rotarian engaged in a business or profession, I am expected to:1. Consider my vocation to be another opportunity
to serve;2. Be faithful to the letter and to the spirit of the
ethical codes of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral standards of my community;
3. Do all in my power to dignify my vocation and to promote the highest ethical standards in my chosen vocation;
4. Be fair to my employer, employees, associates, competitors, customers, the public, and all those with whom I have a business or profes-sional relationship;
5. Recognize the honor and respect due to all occupations which are useful to society;
6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide oppor-
Non-Attendance RulesThe following are the Rotary International rules pertaining to non-attendance. These rules will be enforced by this Club.
The Standard Rotary Club Constitution specifies three conditions under which a Rotarian’s membership will automatically be terminated for nonattendance. These circumstances are: failure to attend or make up four consecutive club meet-ings, failure to attend or make up 60 percent of the club meetings each six months, and failure to
attend at least 30 percent of the meetings of one’s own club in each six-month period. Under any of these three cases, a member will lose Rotary membership unless the club board of directors has previously consented to excuse such failure for good and sufficient reason.
When a member misses four consecutive regular meetings, the board will inform him or her that nonattendance may be considered a request to terminate membership in the club. Thereafter, the board, by a majority vote, may terminate his or her membership.
To some individuals, these rules may seen unusually rigid. However, being present at club meetings is one of the basic obligations a member accepts upon joining a Rotary club. The constitutional rules merely emphasize that Rotary is a participatory organization that highly values regular attendance. When a member is absent the entire club loses the personal association with that member. Being present at a club meeting is considered a vital part of the operation and success of every Rotary Club.
tunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community;
7. Adhere to honesty in my advertising and in all representations to the public concerning my business or profession;
8. Neither seek from nor grant to a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relation-ship.
8
Cell Phone ReminderAlmost everyone has a
cell phone. Out of cour-tesy to our speakers and fellow Rotarians, please turn yours off or leave it in your car while you attend our meeting. If you must have the phone, put it on vibrate and please leave the room to answer calls.

Paul Harris FellowThough many of our Rotarians have
earned Paul Harris Fellows for the work they have done with Rotary, there is another way to get one which is equally important. It is through EREY, which is Every Rotarian Every Year, by donating $100 every year for ten years. A Paul Harris Fellow is awarded for every $1000 donated to Rotary International. Last week Nancy Britton received one earned this way, which makes her a Paul Harris Fellow plus 1.
