DECEMBER 2, 2011Friday Addition opened its doors to all FAfamilies for a time to not only meet and greetthe FA board and tutors, but to show a littlebit of what FA is all about. Surrounding along line of Christmas edibles on tablescentered in the room, branched a multitude
of art projects from 1st semester. From a replica ofAngry Birds, to descriptive names, to silhouettes,to animated gingerbread cookies andnutcrackers, to an explosion of stars, the room seeped with creativity!Around the corner and up a fewsteps were some additionsfrom the junior and senior highlevels. A TV in the hallwayhosted a dvd of a re-enact-ment of the book recentlyread in class,TTTTThe Mirhe Mirhe Mirhe Mirhe Miracacacacacle Wle Wle Wle Wle Worororororkkkkkererererer,by William Gibson, aboutHelen Keller. Viewed onthe wall was a recordingof the high schoolers read-ing aloud some of their work. The junior high writing classdid a portayal ofA Wrinkle in Time with costumesand recited lines. There isnever a dull momnet at FA!

Kindergarten has had an event filled semester. We have talked about allthe letters of the alphabet, learned many new sight words, and beenintroduced to the many complicated rules for making sense of reading. Our afternoons were filled with numbers, social studies and science. Nowit has come to an end for a whole month. I will miss all those smilingfaces, but will be eager to see them again in a few weeks. I pray that over
the Christmas season their families will find time to draw nearto Jesus.
Our last Friday at school was both exciting and fun. We had thechance to make presents for our parents and winter trees. We talkedabout the joy of giving, especially in giving of ourselves. By the timelunch came we had already painted twice and we followed lunchwith more painting. The best part of the day for me was to see the
children come into class with their parents for the holiday openhouse. What a fun time weall had making our "I Spy" ornaments. So to all the kindergartner I wish you a "MerryChristmas and a Happy New Year!" I'll see you in 2012.

I have so enjoyed my Friday mornings this fall!Thank you parents for bringing your wonder-ful children to Friday Addition! They are suchgreat reminders of how God has wonderfullymade each person and I feel privileged to be avery small part in their mentoring. I lookforward to winter as we "travel" as a class toAsia, Africa, and Australia and explore theuniqueness of the people groups of each ofthese continents.
I pray that you all have a blessed Christmasand a 2012 filled with faith, joy and peace!Merry Christmas!

"Gloria, in excelsis Deo!"(Glory in the highest to God!)
The Angels announced the birth of the Saviorof the World to the lowest in society. Theyresponded in characteristic humbleness andhonest belief as they went to town andsearched for the baby. Once found, they sim-ply shared their story -- they had no gifts, nosong, nothing of value to offer except theirfaith in the words of the angel as communica-tion from God.
It is here, too, that we find something of valueto offer. In our faith in God's Word. God'sWord is spoken in creation, it is believedthrough faith, and it is embodied in the personof Jesus Christ. We believe in order to under-stand life. We believe in order to search fortruth and meaning. We believe in that we arethe created, and He is the Creator.
May God bless your daysthrough this season.Merry Christmas,Mr. Sooy

A Pot Fullof Jelly
by Tori Gann
“Ho Ho Ho!” The cry echoesthrough the still night air, repeating itself once, twice, three more times. A light snowis falling, sprinkling from the skyout of heaven's salt shaker. Liketiny flakes of powdered sugar, they float to the ground, per-forming a more complicateddance than has ever beenwitnessed before, on stage or intheatre. Racing through the airpast these little particles of joy,is the one that everyone has
been waiting for. Past twelve brown hides, with structures best described as coat racks mounted on proudtossing heads, you can see the largest, reddest, jolliest old gentleman in the delivery service. He is sitting inthe sleigh that his valiant assistants are drawing behind them, an old- fashioned horse and sleigh arrange-ment zipping past chimneys and over rooftops. The only sound to mark its passing, if anyone had beenstanding in the deserted streets below, would be the faint tinkling of the bells that are strung along the sidesof this open carriage, their faint song of merriment nearly lost in the silence of the playful snow. The mysteri-ous personage himself is quite a character indeed! Beneath his oversized red cap are a set of large, bushywhite eyebrows, standing at a comical angle just above his dancing, twinkling blue eyes. These eyes hold theessence of childish joy and impudence, the mischievous sparkle that is never missing from their merry depthscausing both the old and the young to want to dance with joy at the sight of them. Below them is a romannose, set at a jolly slant just above the streaming white mustache and cherry red lips. Trailing down to hiswaist is the longest, whitest beard that ever was, resting on a “pot full of jelly”- which is clothed in a red suit, held snug around his ample girth by a black leather belt. His hands, clad in a pair of fuzzy black gloves, holdthe reins to his prancing stags, and as they light on a nearby rooftop, he gives a joyful shout: “Ho Ho Ho! MerryChristmas to one and all!” Merry Christmas to you too, Grandpa. :)
Our Livesby Faith Herrema
Too many things, too many things.Bracelets, ribbons, necklaces, and rings.
I want this, I want that. What were you thinking, I wanted lowfat! My closet is full, but I want some more.
I can't be outdone by that one girl next door!Church plays an ad, hurting children overseas,
but how are their problems more important than me?Sometimes this is our attitude, sad but quite true.
Would Jesus be smiling if this was me or you?We are only human, but hopefully we try,
to have an attitude that makes God smile instead of cry.Change my heart, Lord, this my prayer be,
and do Your will inside of me.
