SIGN A CHRISTMAS CARD TO ST. JOSEPH, NAMALAKA ON THE WEEKEND OF
DECEMBER 17/18 Reflecting on the comments expressed by Angelina Emmanuel principal and our recent visitor from our Sister
Parish as to the position of women in Malawi, printed in the last bulletin, has demonstrated one of the goals
we as a Sister Parish pursue in modeling more progressive roles for women in Malawi.
MESSAGE FROM MONTFORT-“Fr. Chris gave me a report last week on his trip to the USA. Thank you so much
for the care and love you gave them. You were able to give them opportunities to learn a lot of things. They
brought home a lot of knowledge. Please extend this message to all the parishioners.” Love, Bishop Montfort

SMALL SAD NEWS- from John Phiri, principal and visitor, “Dear St Brendan, hope this mail finds you in good
health. I am glad to say I am alive and kicking. I want to let you know that on night of November 24, thieves
broke into my house and went away with many valuable things. I reported the issue to the police who are in-
vestigating it….When I am weak, then I am strong. Life goes on! A kite does not fly with the wind but rather
flies higher when it flies against the wind.” With peace and love, John

The Sacrament of
HOLY MATRIMONY
In a Catholic wedding, the bride and groom make seri-ous promises to each other. They love each other
very much. They promise to live to-
gether all their lives. They will honor each
other, which means that they will treat each other with great respect.
They promise to be together in good times and bad. They will be together whether they are sick or well,
and whether they are rich or poor. They will welcome the gift of children.
JESUS BLESSES MARRIAGE
Jesus blessed marriage when he turned water into wine at a wedding in the town of Cana. It was his mother Mary who told Jesus that they had run out of wine.

ST. BRENDAN WOMENS BOOK CLUB Our book club has been reading books every month
for seven years! That’s a lot of books. This Decem-
ber, rather than read a book, we decided to join an
event and hope you, your families and especially
your children will joins us, Friday, Dec. 16, at 6:00
pm as we join the Las Posadas and La Pastorela
celebrations at St. Brendan. This is a traditional
custom of Mexico where children re-enact when
Mary and Joseph went from house-to-house to find
room for their family. We will travel to 3 close by
houses, then return to the parish for treats
(tamales!), a rosary and a Nativity play (La Pastorela)
depicting the journey. It will be a wonderful experi-
ence for all and we hope you can come join the fun
and experience a new facet of our faith life. Ques-
tions? Call Berni Bagger at 425-485-4893.

Recognizing a vital, practical need in his community,
Father Michael J. McGivney, the 29-year-old assistant
pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn.,
gathered a group of men at his parish on Oct. 2,
1881. He proposed establishing a lay organization,
the goal of which would be to unite men of Catholic
faith and to provide for the families of deceased
members. If you’d like to be a part of an interna-
tional organization of more than 1.9 million Catholic
men whose principal work involves helping others in
need, call Kevin Van Hollebeke 206-240-0275.
LIBRARY CORNER The library staff wishes everyone a Happy Advent. We have set out books to inspire, delight and inform you
about this beautiful season. Look on our library cart in the Narthex and, of course, in the library! Also, we have
lot of missing books, CD’s and DVD’s. Our policy is that checked-out items are to be returned or re-checked out
in a month’s time. We are declaring December as “Amnesty Month!” Please bring back and place items you
checked out in the return basket under the counter when you first enter the library. Thank you.
