Peaceful Schools By: Maddie Ray

This year we are continuing to

participate in Peaceful Schools as a

DECA Chapter to help raise awareness

for anti-bullying. With Peaceful Schools

we will visit Belleview Elementary

School once a month to interact with

small groups of students. We will

educate them on what bullying is, how

to deal with it, and alternative ways to

talk to their peers. With the help the

elementary

school

students,

but also the

high school

leaders

within our

chapter about problems occurring

within the community. The Rotary club

provides books and small activities for

small group interaction in the

classrooms. Through all the activities

and helpful hands, implementing a safe

and bully-free school at

Belleview Elementary

is both fun and simpler

to do. Kids are learning

useful skills that

Peaceful Schools hopes

they will carry

throughout their lives

and pass it onto others.

Southeast Denver Rotary Club, a group

of leaders helping local clubs solve their

communities issues, Peaceful Schools

will bring together the

community to create a

safe and enjoyable

environment for

kids.

Creative Marketing Chapter Event By: Nicole Good

Page 3 The DECA Digest

This year, Cherry Creek DECA’s

creative marketing chapter event focuses on

finding new ways to improve the DECA

Snack Shacks. In 2014, the DECA Café was

discontinued and District Food Services

began serving lunches to all students at

CCHS to comply with new mandates from

the Federal School Lunch Program (FSLP).

Because of

these changes,

Creek DECA

saw dramatic

drops in profit

and revenue as

they were now

only allowed to

operate two

small Snack

Shacks during

the four non-

meal periods a

day. Creek

DECA also could no longer afford its own

expenses, activities budget, or generous

donations to the school’s library and

technology fund.

This year’s creative marketing

chapter event (written by café managers

Nicole Good, Samantha Most, and McKay

Smith) includes 7 recommendations aimed

at increasing revenue and profit in the

DECA Snack Shack. The ultimate goal is to

find a way to make Creek DECA once again

self-sustaining without needing additional

funding from CCHS. Recommendations

include:

1. Wacky Cookie Wednesdays

2. Breakfast Burrito Thursdays

3. Teacher delivery service

4. TVs and music in West Snack

Shack

5. New products

6. Credit/debit card machines

7. Instagram for Snack Shack

To implement the given

recommendations for the Snack Shack

Nicole, Samantha, and McKay have

completed a number of promotional

activities throughout the past few months.

They have ordered new cookies, breakfast

burritos, and new products as well as

making posters, school announcements,

coupons, and a commercial! The café

managers hope their project will continue to

have a positive impact on the DECA Snack

Shacks and do well in competition at State

in February!

DECA Night at the Nuggets By: Brooke Sidon

Ready, set, roll! Will it be a strike?

Or a spare? Or a gutter ball? Whatever the

result, Bowling for MDA was a huge

success. There was a great turnout and we

raised a

ton of

money

for

MDA.

Juniors

and

seniors

showed

off

their competitive edge against their friends

to see who could get the highest score. The

night took place at Arapahoe Lanes, which

brought our classes together for a fun and

competitive evening all for a great cause.

beat the Suns 120-104. This game was the

Nugget’s first win at home this season and

Wilson Chandler scored a season-high of 28

points. The

successful, fun

night for the

Nuggets just as

much as it was for

The bell hasn’t even rung yet and

Adolphi’s 4th period seniors are already

bouncing off the walls. It’s as if everyone in

the class had a pressurized bottle of energy

that suddenly explodes when 4th period

comes. Mrs. Adolphi walks in carrying

folders stuffed with papers and a laptop in

her right arm, greeting people and telling

them to sit down as she walks, but the party

doesn’t stop. She is just as energetic as we

are, making jokes, telling stories, and

returning our sass right back to us.

Her enthusiasm is contagious, and

our class can’t help but smile and

laugh with her. Even now, when

we are focused on creating an

advertising campaign for our

final, she still finds a way to make

every day fun and exciting. She

isn’t afraid to start conversations

with any one of her students, and her humor

never fails to entertain us. Her class will truly be one that we will never forget. We

love you Adolphi!

Our students worked hard to prepare for

their PK tests and role-plays and it definitely

paid off and will continue to do so in the

future. See you at State in February!

Fairgrounds November 21st, we faced

various other schools in our

district and performed to our very

best. As we cycled through the

day in our various role-plays, new

juniors competed for their first

time against other schools while

the returning seniors went

through their final DECA District

conference. It was an extremely

successful day as many competitors

advanced onto the State Conference.

Our chapter qualified 65 students to State!

Conference was a major hit! As Cherry

More about Mrs. Adolphi By: Camilla Holmsen Elizabeth Seedorf-Adolphi has all

the components a marketing student would

desire in a teacher. In addition to her

outstanding teaching skills, Mrs. Adolphi

has many other attributes that qualify her as

one of the most interesting people to work at

Creek. Some of them can be easily guessed.

For example, her impressive dance moves

are obviously due in large part to her time

spent being an aerobics instructor in college.

Mrs. Adolphi’s dance moves go hand-in-

hand with her outstanding singing abilities.

It is not necessarily her melodic voice that is

so remarkable, but more her

ability to sing a song

including the words of quite

literally anything you might

say to her. Her brain is

stuffed with an endless

amount of song lyrics, ready

to be sung at a moment’s

notice.

Even without these

qualities, Mrs. Adolphi

would still closely resemble a famous

person. Her largest, and most rare, ability to

win an infinite amount of

radio contests land her in

the Bahamas, Nashville, and

in the front row of many

exclusive performances.

Even though Mrs. Adolphi

could easily live off of a

combination of teaching

aerobics classes and cashing

in on radio contests, she

chooses to charitably devote

her time and effort to the students and

faculty at Creek. Thank you Mrs. Adolphi!
