SKILLS The student should be able to:
1. Obtain a proper relevant history and perform a humane and thorough examination
including internal examinations (per-rectal, per-vaginal) and examination of all organ
system in adults and children including neonates.
2. Arrive at a logical functional, anatomical and etiological diagnosis after clinical
examination.
3. Understand and advise appropriate and relevant investigations for the management
and follow-up of patients.
4. Plan and institute a line of treatment for common ailments as per recommended
guidelines with due consideration to patient socio-economic status.
5. Recognise the clinical situation which call for early and prompt treatment at
secondary or tertiary canter and make a prompt referral after giving
primary/emergency treatment.
6. Recognise common emergency clinical conditions and should be able institute life
saving measures.
7. Assess the fluid and electrolyte, acid –base imbalance.
8. Interpret common laboratory investigations including radiological investigations.
9. Interpret common serological investigations including immunological investigations.
10. Perform skin sensitivity test for drug and serum.
11. Record and interpret the ECG for common cardiac ailments and electrolyte
abnormality.
12. Write appropriate rationale prescriptions for common ailment with clear
understanding of adverse drug reactions.
