precautions and care for the best outcome and recovery after the surgery.
You will find Operative Details here which is a Very Important Document for you for the lifetime, as it gives the information of the Surgery’s details which becomes necessary to assess in future developments and check-up procedures. It is specially important to the Physician who may ask you in the consultations.
We have took an initiative to provide you the Do’s and Don’ts regarding Diet and Exercise. We have tried to compile the information specially for Cardiac patients in an effort to help regarding Diet and regimen. We thank our Dieticians and Physiotherapists for providing this valuable information.

NUTRITION AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
Post-Operative Care
Please wear Chest-belt 24 hours for 3 months to ensure good Sternum bone healing. You can remove it during meals, bathing for few minutes.
Wash your Chest-belt at least every two days.
Try to lie down in straight position and not in sideways for first three months after the operation
Post-Operative Care
Take support of a family member/ attendant while lying down and getting-up from bed.
Do not lift any kind of weight in the first three months after the operation.
Do not drive two wheeler or four wheeler in the first two months after the operation.
Bathing daily is very essential after the Stitch-Removal.
Post-Operative Care
The common complaints after the surgery are as follows: Pain: A little pain is very common
in all the patients for the first two weeks and gradually it decreases. So, do not get panic for it. But if it is unusual then just consult us.
Cough: It is also common complaint of many patients. Tamarind (Adrakh), Tulsi, Fudina, Ardusi should be used along with the medicines.
Post-Operative Care
Pain: The site of pain is usually in chest and back.
Sometimes pain in legs from where vein is harvested is more.
Painkillers given to you will take care of it.

Post-Operative Care
The common complaints after the surgery are as follows: Swelling in legs: It is more
common in the By-pass surgery. If swelling in legs is there, then you are advised to keep legs elevated at the ankles level. 6 to 8 inches of elevation is adequate. You can do it by keeping one or two pillows at the ankles. Also, do not keep legs in hanging position.
Post-Operative Care
When in sitting position for a longer duration, keep your legs laid down on a table or chair opposite to you.
Do not keep your legs in hanging position for longer duration.
Post Operative Care
Regarding Diet: we recommend home made Ghee for the first month after the surgery. ( But just for the one month ONLY).
Salt and Peppers to cut down to 50% in all foods.
Almonds, Pistas and Wallnuts ( 5 to 6)
Non-veg. food is not recommended except for the soups.
Post Operative Care
Smoking, Tobacco, Betelnut (Supari) and Alcohol is Very Hazardous to your health and even worse in Heart diseases. Do not consume these things in any form.
Post-Operative Care
Walking is a very good help you can give yourself. After one week after the Stitch
Removal you can start walking upto One Km.
After one month after the Surgery you can increase walking upto two kms.
And by three months you should be walking at least three Kms.
STOP walking if you feel breathlessness, Pain, Vertigo, etc. and REST.

It takes 2 to 4 days to the routine environment at home.

Take rest for one or two hours after lunch.

One day you may feel better and the other day may be uncomfortable.
It happens for the first few weeks. Healing process is gradual.

Do not get panic if you feel weakness and sick.
You will get well very soon.

You may get disturbed sleep in the initial post operative period.
To get into routine, it will take time of few weeks.

If you feel breathless sometime, Breath deeply for five to ten minutes and you will feel better.
