We’ve had our cross-country meets, our girls lego robotics club, homework club &our Student of the Month celebrations. Most recently we had our families join us for our annual Trunk or Treat and Fall Frolic. It was another reminder that our community is truly bought in to helping Sheridan students, “win the day”. Just some reminders as we head into the colder months and more dangerous driving conditions: Dress for the weather (e.g. gloves, jackets, coats, etc.). Remind your child about crossing at crosswalks where students patrol and/or Sheridan staff is located and cross with your child. Drivers please slow down especially during pick-up & drop off. Please do not park in the bus lanes. I can speak for all of the staff when I say we are all lucky to teach and work in the East Central neighborhood. Crayola and schools across North America are banding together to help kids understand the importance of their role in protecting the environment. That’s why we launched Crayola ColorCycle. Parking Information We love the community members who live in the area surrounding Sheridan. Being a good neighbor is important to all of us, so here are some helpful tips. These tips will keep our students safe and might keep you from getting a traffic ticket.

• First, please park five (5) feet or more from entrances to driveways, and fifteen (15) feet from fire hydrants. Watch out for the city bus zone which is located on 5th Ave. DO NOT BLOCK DRIVEWAYS OR BUS ZONES or you will be towed.

• Second, park on the correct side of the street. Cutting across and parking against traffic is dangerous and illegal.

• Third, if your child gets out of the car across the street from school, please have them walk to the crosswalk and then cross the street. Every year children get hit by cars when they jaywalk.

• Fourth, drive slowly and carefully near the school. Thank you for being a good neighbor.

Please check out Sheridan Reads with your child! Sheridan Reads! is a video clip of a Sheridan staff member reading a book. Each week you will hear a different story by a Sheridan staff member. To access this video, go to www.spokaneschools.org and click on the “view our schools” tab. Then click on Sheridan and scroll down until you find the book icon. Click on this link and it will take you to the video. Enjoy listening to the story and check back in each week for a new video clip.

DRIVE THRU SALES COUNT!

Here at Sheridan we talk about student growth. We know that there is a strong correlation between positive attendance and high student academic growth. In order to grow our Sheridan Tigers, we are working toward 95% on time attendance. This month we are excited to announce that we will begin to celebrate students who are at school every day, on time and ready to learn. We will hold a monthly Perfect On-Time Attendance award for all students who are at school on time every day each month. We will post pictures of monthly Perfect On-Time Attendance students on our T24 board in the MPR, and let students choose a small Tiger Pride award.

Thank you, parents for ensuring that your child gets to school on time, every day. Your efforts and hard work will enable your child to make the academic growth that they are striving for. Positive attendance behavior will allow your child to “win the day!

Students with perfect attendance so far this school year!
