NO SCHOOL FOR PREPS ON WEDNESDAY Dear Halls Gap PS families,
Once again we have participated in the
annual Clean Up Australia Day by doing
our part in our local area. Connor and
Hannah from Parks Victoria came and
spoke to us about the rubbish in the park
and the affect it can have on the
environment and the animals. We would
encourage all families and visitors to the
area that venture out into the park to
take all of their rubbish home with them.
It is fantastic that we enjoy its beauty
and really want it to stay that way for a
very long time to come.
Thank you so much to all families who
are making contact with us either via
diary, in person or on the phone when
their child is going to be away. It has
been so helpful to us!
At the end of last year we put in an
expression of interest to be part of this
year’s State Schools Spectacular. We
weren’t very hopeful but we thought it
might mean we would be more likely to
be accepted in 2019. Turns out they
have found a place for us this year. It’s
pretty exciting but a little unexpected. A
note went home with all Grades 2-6
students calling for expressions of
interest. We will be having a meeting
tomorrow (Tuesday) straight after
school for any parents that may be
interested but would like a little more
information. Please come along and ask
us any questions. We will do our best to
answer them. It is a very big
commitment – mostly in time but there
are some financial requirements as well.
We are trying to encourage some
healthy eating habits in the school.
Please encourage your child to bring at
least one piece of fruit for morning tea, a
sandwich, wrap, roll or something
similary for lunch and some healthier
snacks. If you can stay away from high
fat and high sugar treats we would really
appreciate it as they are not ideal in
creating and sustaining energy for
learning.
Good luck to Tom, Arlo and Kelanee
who are heading to Horsham tomorrow
to swim at the divisions.
Have a lovely week, Ja-San Trimble – Principal
We close on CODE RED days
We relocate to the Halls Gap hall on Severe and Extreme days
SCHOOL FUNDRAISING UPDATE MARKETS IN A UNIQUE MOUNTAIN SETTING
Thank you so much to all families who have donated their time to help out in any way with the upcoming market. We have enclosed the completed roster.
The HGPS markets have been running since 1997 and have become a major source of fundraising for the school. We are very excited to have so many new families joining us for the first time this year and look forward to having lots of fun and getting to know one another volunteering at our markets!
Our fundraising efforts provide our families with financial support for camps and excursions (including cluster activities,) access to laptops and iPads, books, Maths resources, wonderful play equipment and beautiful grounds and an amazing annual concert. Whew! It really goes a long way
In the meantime, if you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to contact Kayleen Urquhart or Justine Kingan.
Dear families, It’s nearly that time of the year again …. EASTER!!! Before the end of this term we will need some Easter Donations for our Easter Raffle. The tickets will be sold by the students that are willing to help out. All donations should have something to do with Easter and there will be a box in the front foyer for all the donations to go in. We hope everyone will donate some awesome gifts. Thank–you, Junior School Council
