SuperSport is going BIG and Rugby World Cup plans include 4 x specific support shows, major international stars to anchor shows and world class studios in both London & Randburg. In the history of SuperSport, the quality and scale of the 2015 Rugby World Cup broadcast promises to be unprecedented. But to kick off the World Cup flavor for 2015, there’s Cricket World Cup hosted in Australia & New Zealand in February. Cricket unlike most other sports, attracts a substantial female audience.
Be creative with your media planning and don’t rule out the Cricket World Cup for
brands that target both genders. As Africa’s leading sports content provider, opportunities for our advertisers go way beyond a single event. The huge variety of content across over 10 dedicated channels has allowed SuperSport to grow and continue to attract new audiences.
Driven by DStv Compact, sports like soccer is flying and in this past season the highest ratings on the SuperSport platform was from local soccer. That’s no small achievement given the likes of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. More than 2 million DStv Adults tuned into SS4 during the MTN Top 8 to
DEAR
catch the derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. While “live” events demand the biggest ratings and the most attention, our commercial offering has diversified to include individual channel packages on SS1, SS2, SS3 & SS4. It’s now possible to target a specific sport genre or demographic cost effectively using these packages.
These Run of Station buysoffer substantial reach and great value and should really be used to bolster almost every DStv campaign.
2015 is the year for sports fans. Let us bring them to you.
Yours in sport,PATRICK & THE EXTENDED SPORTS TEAM
SPORTS LOVERS
NOTHING GETS SOUTH AFRICANS MORE EXCITED THAN THE PROSPECT OF A RUGBY WORLD CUP AND WITH THE 2015 TOURNAMENT BEING HOSTED IN THE UK IN SEPTEMBER, RUGBY WORLD CUP IS SURE TO DOMINATE ALL MEDIA! THE MERE LOCATION OF THE WORLD CUP COULDN’T BE MORE FAVOURABLE IN TERMS OF BROADCAST TIMES AND COVERAGE.

TIME SHIFTThe vast majority of sport viewing is ‘live’. Time shifted viewing doesn’t really affect sport.
CATCH UPWe also provide sponsorship opportunities around CatchUp highlights and Live-streaming on request. If you cannot watch the game on your TV set, SuperSport offers multiple platforms for you to stay in touch and get the score. Tailor-made sponsorship opportunities allow you access to these invaluable consumers.
LINEAR VIEWINGWe still offer traditional marketing oppertunities through TV commercials and sponsorship elements like billboards, bumpers, squeeze backs and stings.
OUT OF HOME PLATFORMS Through technology and mobile innovation viewers can now watch sport anywhere, anytime, any place. Live sport viewing is enhanced through mobile and it’s common place in stadiums all around SA.

OUR GUIDE TOSPORTS PLANNING
08 SPORTS PLANNING Guide
OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO ADVERTISERS & MARKETERS INCLUDE:
SPONSORSHIP (Events, leagues programs,
content or segments) Rights
agreements determine the
scope of these partnerships and
global partners get 1st option
on broadcast opportunities.
Sponsorships are an effective
way to create associations with
key media events/ channels
and used well, they are
incredibly powerful. Integrated
sponsorships across platforms
not only help build and leverage
brands but they can be used
effectively to drive sales as well.
ANNUAL SPORTS COMMITMENTSMore and more clients are
investing significant portions
of their budgets in sport and
through annual deals, they
are able to maximize returns/
value. These deals can sit across
sports disciplines or can be more
specific. They are tailored to suit
client’s needs where additional
benefit is derived based on the
level of investment.
EVENT PACKAGESMajor events are packaged and
made available to the industry
on a first come first served basis.
Sports commitments however
take preference and these clients
get 1st access to events. Packages
offer between 20 – 50% AV and
always include a digital element
through exposure on SuperSport
com. Only if packages are not
completely sold out are events
sold on a loose spot basis.
Full package bookings will
always pre-empt part or half
package bookings. Packages for
events can only be booked for
one duration.
RUN OF STATION PACKAGESTargeting sports fans and largely
a male audience, these packages
offer massive value and exposure
across the SuperSport platform.
The Champions option gives you
high exposure on the 4 biggest
SuperSport channels while the
Fanatics package focuses on high
frequency across all channels.
Building reach & frequency is
now easy and with close to 90%
benefit levels, this option is a
great “booster” for any male
targeted campaign.
Planners need to be aware of
big events and the effect these
have on SuperSport audiences
when planning and projecting
on channel packages.
MAGAZINE SHOW, LOOSE SPOT OR TIME BAND BUYSClient commitments discount
applies unless packaged.
TAILORED PACKAGESWe are happy to tailor packages
across all sporting disciplines/
events although these are
pre-emptable.
NB! Broadcast partners
preclude direct competitors
from taking event TVC
packages.

Considerations on SPORTS SPONSORSHIP 11
CONSIDERATIONSON SPORT SPONSORSHIP
When requesting sponsorship
opportunities be mindful that external restrictions
governed by rights agreements could prevent us from accommo-
dating your client. Our agreements with Rights Holders determine the
sponsorship elements on offer. FIFA might not allow SQ as an example.
For Tactical
Associations opportunities -
we can create a variety of sponsored content and
inserts. These opportunities can be tailored to suit your client’s budget
and objectives with solutions that include online, mobile
and in program activations.
Squeezebacks, stings & tactical association inserts are sold across entire
designated league/event periods and not as standalone inventory. i.e. to buy football
SQ‘s you need to purchase the entire season.
Football, Rugby, Cricket, Cycling
and Tennis sponsorships are in most instances subject
to three year agreements. Sponsorship opportunities
are renewed on a first option basis and as a result, are
often difficult to secure.
Rights holder partners, sponsors and associates
often get exclusivity (including category exclusivity) and
will have first option for all sponsorship
inventory.
