Dear Donors,

An urgent and critical need has come up in Navakiraga Orphanage Care Home for the 100

children and 50 elders.

In the past 9 years, over 500 children have stayed with us and they are successfully

rehabilitated. Those children who are still living with us are pursuing primary and Higher

education. These children are separated according to their gender. The boys are staying in

temporary building just 7 kms away from our main building and the girls are accommodated in

our main building.

Over 100 elders sheltered in our Home were reintegrated with their relatives after considerable

stay with us and over 50 elders were peacefully reached divine abode. We buried them with due

respect and last rites. Those elders who are still living with us have been provided temporary

shelter just 7 kms away from our main building.

For the past 9 years, we are running this Orphanage care Home in rented building. Our support

for this effort has mainly been coming from local donors which is barely enough to feed them

and meet their basic needs. This made us difficult to find adequate resources to set aside to

build well furnished Home for children and elders.

Now the situation has worsened after the landlord has served us notice to evict us within short

period. We are in dire situation to seek funds and build Home.

I would like to make use of 2 acres of land which was bequeathed by our parents. I have a plan

to build an extensive building to accommodate maximum number of children and elders in an

integrated campus. This will help our inmates to get maximum attention in terms of shelter,

health and education. Moreover, there would not be any need to turn down prospective

requests. Detailed plan and estimates have been annexed herewith.

Hence, I appeal to your generous hearted to donate profusely to our project. Your support will

help our inmates be relieved from untold emotional distress and secure the feeling of

permanence.

INTRODUCTION Navakiraga Orphanage Home is a charitable Trust, which was established in order to help some of the most vulnerable and needy children and aged people. We have been running this Home for the past 9 years. We have provided shelter for about 500 children and 200 elders. Many of them are successfully rehabilitated and integrated into mainstream. Presently as many as 100 children and 50 elders are staying in our Home. PROBLEM STATEMENT

The elders who are staying with us are decrepit and they are housed in a temporary shelter which is about 7 kms away from main Home. The condition is same as boy’s shelter.

PROJECT PROPOSAL

Our main Home is a rental building and 100 years old. This Home is in dilapidated condition. As per Government direction, we segregated the children and elders into separate Homes. About 30 girl children are housed in the above said main Home. The landlord has served notice to evict us from this Home within short period. We are in precarious situation as to shelter these Children.

The boys are located in temporary shelter which is about 7 kms away from main Home. The boys Home has no basic facilities like toilets and rooms. This is just a hall and roofed in asbestos sheet with so many holes. During rainy season, the entire shed will be soaked with rain water. This causes children to undergo mental stress.

Since we are running this Home from local support, we barely find resources to feed them and provide minimum basic needs. Our Homes are situated in three different locations. This makes us difficult to provide food to the inmates and monitor them effectively. We are not able to provide any facilities to the inmates. The landlords are not allowing us to modify any of the structure.

PROBLEM STATEMENT…….

Donors are finding it very difficult to visit our Homes as they are located in three different locations. This puts great hardship in raising funds for foods and for basic needs. Most of the funds we receive from donors are spent on rent which leave us with very little amount for spending on important items.

All of our children are school going but we could not provide good environment for doing Homework and exam preparation. This causes children to do poor performances in schools. Since they could not find any place to play, they are mentally stressed and physically weak. They often fall prone to opportunistic infections.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We have proposed to construct a new integrated Home for children and elders. For this purpose, the founder P. Sakthivel has donated about 2 acres of land to Trust. This land was bequeathed to him by his parents for this noble cause. Location of this site is Varitchikudi.

This proposed integrated building will have 4 blocks. One block will have 16 rooms. Each room will be measured 20’ X 20’ and each room will have 5 beds, shelf and personal computer. Common Toilets and Bathrooms will be provided in block. Common area will be provided for prayer and assembly within this block. Separate blocks for boys and girls will be constructed. The blocks which are dedicated for orphanage will accommodate 90 boys and 90 girls each. The entire building will be built with future provision of adding floors to each block.

The proposed integrated building will have separate block for elders. Each room will have attached toilet and bathroom. In order to receive visitors for elders, each individual room will have separate lounge. This will ensure privacy as well as homely environment for elders.

Another block will be dedicated for accommodating destitute women and utility rooms. This block will have store room, common kitchen, class rooms and short stay rooms for women. Common Toilets and bathrooms will be constructed.
