On the behalf of its organizing committee, I would like to invite you all to our semi-annual MANOSMED Course in cooperation with SENATURK (Turkish Academy of Senology) on “Advanced Breast Cancer” which we are planning to be held in Istanbul, Turkey next December. As many of you know that MANOSMED is one of the oldest organizations established in this region to provide a high-quality training and education on breast diseases (Mastology/Senology) with update objectives. MANOSMED Courses are provided semiannually each calender year at different member countries. There are four main themes which the courses are programmed accordingly: Basic Issues/Science, Benign Diseases, Early Disease and Advanced Disease. A classical course consists of 2 ½ day - lectures and panel discussions on the given theme in addition to precourse half day practical hands-on training sessions. MANOSMED gathers those professionals from countries around Mediterranean aiming to increase the cooperation and foster efforts for better breast care. MANOSMED also provides the official internationally acknowledged license diploma of Montpellier University (France) on “Senology” to those successfully complete all four courses on each theme issue. Although it is not obligatory, at the end of each course, a written exam is sit by the course attendants. However, only those who pass these exams from 4 main subjects are authorized to receive the diploma. The courses are bilingual as English and French. Therefore, in whichever language the lecture is given, the slides shown are in both languages, so participants who are not fluent in any one language may follow the lectures with good understanding in the other. As it will be on “Advanced Breast Cancer”, MANOSMED Istanbul Course includes issues on advanced cancer biology & disease patterns, decision-making & clinical reasoning in locally advanced disease, next generation precision medicine: personalized approach for advanced cancer, multidisciplinary point-of-care management in advanced disease, neoadjuvant treatment, multimodel loco-regional & systemic treatment of metastatic disease, critical thinking & problem solving in advanced cases, persistent & recurrent diseases, palliation and orphan issues (occult disease, pregnant patients, male cancer, extraaxillary regional lymphatic metastasis). As you may read the scientific programme in detail, it is based on recently updated issues as well as basic knowledge. At the end of the course, we expect the participants to know, learn and understand the biology of the disease overall and professional approaches to the advanced disease under all this context without neglecting the delicate care to those who really need. Our course faculty consist from MANOSMED and SENATURK faculty members who are nationally and internationally well-recognized eminent academics with large experience on their fields. Therefore, we are very much excited to look forward hosting you here in our World-heritage city of Istanbul where cultures meet and are mixed all throughout the mankind history. This is the city in which everybody find something from themselves. Istanbul is believed to be a unique city coming out from fairy tales which entertains people of every age. We are sure that you will be also enjoying the city which we hope give you unforgettable memories. Due to the date of the course, the city will be attractive with the New Year Eve festives as well. We estimate that there will be many alternatives for shopping and sightseeing for you and your accompany.
