INTRODUCTION

Doordarshan kendra serving an individual organization whichplays an important role in TVs cinema.

It provides free to air channels DD-1, DD-NEWS and many more.

It originates the programmes and telecast on the channel.

The first television broadcast was viewed by the people of

Rajasthan on 1st August 1975 under the Satellite InstructionalTelevision Experiment targeting the districts of Kota, Sawai

Madhopur and Jaipur.

On 1st March 1977, Upgrah Doordarshan Kendra (UDK) wasset up at Delhi.

On 1st June 1987, Jaipur Doordarshan Kendra was set up.

Initially the Kendra produced only 30 minutes of programmingand this was gradually increased. Presently the Kendra

originates about four hours of programming daily.

The terrestrial channel covers 78% by population and 71% byarea of Rajasthan.

VARIOUS SECTION OF DD-KENDRA

A) STUDIO

Television signals for broadcasting are originated by camerasrecorded at the studios and replayed by video tape recorders,mixed in studio vision mixers and finally distributed fortransmission.

Action In this includes staging, lightening, performance byartists .

There are three different studios :-

Studio AStudio B

Studio C

Studio A is largest studio in comparison to B & C used formain recordings (like for the program me KIRAN and

STAR NIGHT)

Studio B is used for the live programme like discussions, news

& subah savere.

Studio C is the last studio.

(It is used ocassionly.)

Studios are acoustic treated to provide good quality of sound. Very efficient air conditioning is required for the heat

dissipation by the studio lights.

B) ELECTRONICS NEWS GATHRING (ENG)

Electronics news gathering basically consists of recording anevent using cameras and submitting the recorded cassettes inthe library of CPC Doordarshan.

Equipments used for news gathering:

Cameras: There are 2 types of cameras used:

a) Digital camera

b) Analog camera

Mikes: These are used to record sound. Its types are:

a) Dynamic mikes

b) Condenser mikes

Sun burn: It is a device used to lighting & it is used with colorcamera.

Laptop: It is basically used for sports coverages.

C) EARTH STATION

It is the major section. Equipment operates in frequency range of 5.85Ghz to 6.42Ghz

for transmit.

And for receiving 3.625Ghz to 4.2Ghz.

The antenna consists of antenna control unit, receiver, upconvertor system, high power amplifier.

Transmission system carries digital base band system signals

from studio to earth station site to minimize the noise interface.

It also comprises of digital multiplexers and digital modulators.

D)OB VAN (Outdoor Broadcasting Van)

This van is a complete van for recording and editing. This van has 8 cameras setup.

Inside it there are Audio consol and Vision mixer.

There are 8 VTRs for display.

There is a direct connection of van with the Earth Station. For controlling there is a CCU.

A separate monitoring bus is provided in CCU, LCU and END

CONTROL with sources.

Working:-

As the OB van has 8 cameras, they are placed at desired

locations.

The output signals from each camera are feed to the OB van

where these signals are divided in two parts one is video and

other is audio.

Video signal is feed to vision mixer whereas the Audio signal is

feed to audio consol.

In vision mixer all the video are mixed and they are controlled

by CCU and final signal produced.

E) MASTER SWITCHING ROOM (MSR) Feed room basically known as Master Switching Room &

Satellite Feed Room.

All the feeds from various sources like satellite, studio & other

channels are known as feeds.

The different types of feeds can be broadly divided into twocategories: -

Oversight Feed

F) EDITING Editing is meant to edit or to produce the final program after

modifications.

We need editing to cut clip from a complete program to use that

in news section.

The process that will produce 3-minute clip from 2-hours

program will be called editing.

Editing can be of two types:

Linear Editing &

Non Linear Editing.

CONCLUSION:- The training at doordarshan kendra, jaipur was very helpful.

It has improved my theoretical concepts of electrical signal

broadcasting & transmission distribution.

Protection of various apparatus was a great thing.

Maintenance of lightining, cameras, recording taps etc wasobservable.

I had a chance to see the remote control of the equipments

from control room itself, which was very interesting.

So the training was more than hope to me and helped me tounderstand about broadcasting system more.
