Fitness In The WaterMay 28 - September 59-10am daily (times may vary in late summer)

Fee: Drop in or Facility PassMost of the time, exercise makes us feel good. Other times, exercisecan be more painful than pleasing. Adults of all ages, and particularly those age 50 and older, are finding that exercising in water helpsincrease the longevity of their joints while providing similar healthbenefits as other exercise. Like land exercise, water fitness offersmany different types of opportunities fitting participants’ goals fromhigh energy workouts to gentle soothing regimens aimed at reducingarthritic pain and stiffness.

Water resistance, known as hydrostatic pressure, makes moving in water more strenuous than on land. The addition of equipment and vigorous movement can help participants tailor their exercise

intensity, making it comparable to activities they might do on land, but because heart rates are lower in water, they may feel lessexertion.

As participants get their hearts pumping and tone muscles, the water’sbuoyancy helps protect their joints from the shocking impacts they may experience during land exercise.

Water exercise is ideal as part of a cross-training routine that includes a variety of activities, including weight-bearing exercise,

which is important in maintaining healthy bones and building muscle. The therapeutic qualities of water are an important aspect of waterfitness, especially for those with arthritis, injuries and other

conditions limiting movements.

If these classes are full, please put your name on a waitlist and we will create another class if possible.

Please take a moment toread the following rules to your children prior to their first class:

On Court Conduct Once on the court, there are certaindos and don’ts — all in the name of safety:• All children under the age of 8

must be supervised by an adult

when entering the building fortheir own safety.

• Please direct children to wait untilthe pro invites them onto thecourt. No siblings or parentsplease.

• Younger, inexperienced studentshave less racquet and ball control, therefore it is imperative that they do not hit balls unless instructedto. Racquets should be hugged totheir body and attention directedtoward the pro.

• Balls on the ground, stay on theground.

• All students must participate inball pickup.

• No jumping, climbing on the net or hitting the curtains withracquets.

Off Court Conduct • Please do not allow your children

to run on the grates or in thehallway of the tennis building.

This distracts not only the prosand students but also otherspectators.

• No food/gum allowed in thebuilding including the hallway.

• Please leave strollers outside thebuilding. They hinder the flow of people in and out of the building.

• Our lessons are scheduled back toback. If you need to speak to a pro, please call or e-mail them.Do not infringe on the next group’s time.
