Chapter 1 - & all we are, just zeros and ones.

It was like looking at a train wreck. The group had either abandoned their

home or been abandoned by their own home. Now they stood at a standstill; legs

weary with travel, heads heavy with their own disease of thought. Each one of them

carried their own unique disorder, one a cynic, one a tyrant, one a leader, and theothers followers. Perhaps it was a curse that had brought them to this moment in

time, staring down the abandoned kingdom as if it had been their own all along. A

chilly breeze accompanied them as they stood motionless in front of the zoo. The

breeze seemed to last an eternity; bristling not only their coats but also their minds.

What was had appeared in front of them? Not only a world of freedom but a haven

placed away from their former homes of discord. To their small brains it was nothing

to take pride in. The damage which this establishment had endured made it appear

as ominous ruinseven more ominous to the suspicious dogs that had underwent

long speculations of time. Each subordinate briefly looked around them in the area

which encompassed them. None of them dared to make a move. In a way, their

hopeful eyes resembled the residues of pain which were painted on the ruins

around them. The group didnt know exactly what to do or what to think. The dogs

had been plagued by indecision and their own insecurity. What lay in front of them

was unknown to their minds and foreign to their pads. Their bodies shook with

autumns chill, eyes closing just to embrace their own anxiety. The moment seemed

to sit forever in front of them, awkwardly staring at them as they stood like statues.

It had been about three or four minutes since they had arrived.

A dog began to bark ferociously, peeling open the eyes of those who stood

defending their bodies from the chilly temperatures. Every dog which could see

greeted the sight which unraveled in their presence. Julian, a black mongrel with a

creepy bi-colored eye, had approached the welcoming gate of the condemned zoo.

Shortly after Julian had moved a masculine German Shepherd figure began to follow

after Julian. Most of the dogs were now glancing about, eyeing each other with

uncertainty. Julian cocked his head to the side, then rolling his eyes sarcastically at

the pathetic group. Almost on cue, his faithful crazy Belgian Malinois bitch named

Menace followed suit. Julian snorted in satisfaction to her gesture of unprovoked

obedience. The black mongrel then lined his sight with the approaching German

Shepherd male which he quickly recognized as Tyrant. Julians ears perked straight

up with intent towards the courageous move. Julian made no signal of

encouragement or appreciation for Tyrant was only displaying his character.

However, where were all the others? Tyrant moved his head from Menace and thento Julian, giving a nod of recognition for the honorable male. He then stood right by

Julian just as any obedient Beta male should. Julian ignored the gesture to hiss at

the frozen group in front of him. The rumble tickled his vocals and narrows his soft

eyelids of knowledge with scorn. He quickly moistened the crown of his maw before

parting it to speak, theres no one here who gives a shit. His vocals hit

the air gruffly, showing the group how much of an orator he could be. No dog

moved, blinked, or sighed. Barely anyone even breathed. Get your head out of

your assesyou think anything scary would want a dump like this? Julian

snorted before continuing his little speech of encouragement. Its perfect for

shitbags like meJulians eyes were peeled open by a short epiphany of

realization. Julian would have to be careful before he let words roll off his tongue

like that. I meant us. Whatever, just move your asses before you all freeze todeath. Lets go, now.

Each dog cautiously glanced around once more before agreeing with Julian.

Slowly, very slowly, the dogs moved through the warning signs and broken fence to

enter the zoo. They were happy they did because to it was their last hope to

    harmony.
