    General Care and Caution

How to remove the SIM Card

Always send an >SRTSRT< command) via Serial port. - Remove SIM card after sending the >SRT< command.

That means, you have around 10 seconds to remove the SIM card.

How to remove the internal battery (Syrus 2)

Always send an >SRTSRT< command) via Serial port. - Remove the battery after sending the >SRT< command. That means, you have around

10 seconds to remove the battery. If the external power supply is connected, the battery can be replaced without sending the>SRT< command.

Set up the correct PIN for the SIM card.

The SIM card may be blocked if the PIN parameter is configured using the>SRFI

    Recommended Protection

    Main Power (Pins 9 & 1) Syrus 1 Only

Protect the Syrus against transient voltage (which are common on vehicles) by

connecting a P6KE36CA diode on the Syrus power supply cables. This diode must be connected

as close as possible to the unit's power supply connector. The diode must be connected between

GND (pin 1) and MPOWER (pin 9). Since the diode does not have a polarity it can be connected

in any direction between those pins.

More information about transient responses can be found:here

    English&SpanishWikipedia Articles.

    Outputs

The unit has 2 discrete outputs located on the I/O molex-type connector. The outputs areOpen-Drain type with no internal pull-up resistor.

Meaning that the user has to provide a pull-up resistor to any positive voltage (30V max.)

to detect an inactive output by voltage. Each output can drive a continuous current of 2A.

    The electrical conditions are:

    Logical State Electrical State

    Active 0V

    InactiveOpen or pull-up voltage

    (max 30V)

If the output is used for

    cutting/restoring GND, a direct connection

can be used. For example when driving a

    LED:

If the output is used for

    cutting/restoring a positive voltage on a high

current device, like for example the vehicle's ignition wire, an external device like a relay o highcurrent transistor must be used. See the Connection Diagrams for an example of this connection.

To test the connection via the Serial Port you can send the following commands to the device

    usingSyrusDesk:>SRT;CONFIGSDA0;P15SED20NV0;XP1+;ACT=STXOutput 1 ActiveSED30NV0;XP1-;ACT=STXOutput 1 InactiveSED21NV0;XP2+;ACT=STXOutput 2 ActiveSED31NV0;XP2-;ACT=STXOutput 2 Inactive
