BE IT ENACTED BY THE ELECTORS OF THE DISTRICTOF COLUMBIA, ThAtthis act may be cited as he "Marriage nitiativeof 2009."

Sec. . Chapter orty-Thee of An Act To establish code of law for the Districtof Columbia,

approved arch 3, 1901 Title46, Subtitle , Chapter of the District of Columbia OfficialCode,D.C. Offrcial Code $ 46-401et seq.), s amended y adding a new section rovidingasfollows:

Only marriage etween man and a woman s valid or recognized n the Districtof Columbia.

Sec. 3. Effective Date. This act shall ake effect n accordance ith the provisions f $ 1-1001.16 nd 6 l-206.02 f the District f Columbia ffic ial Code.
