administrative details for your Perusal

1. If there are any changes to the program, you will find the updated version in your documentation folder or it will reflect on the board next to the registration desk.

2. The Workshop will take place on the 11th - 12th May 2015 in aroos al Bahr Ballroom.

3. Coffee Breaks will be held at the Foyor of aroos al Bahr. If you have any special dietary requirements, kindly inform our Registration desk during the first coffee break. Lunch will be served at al Basateen.

4. name tags have been provided to help attendees identify fellow delegates. That apart, the name tags will also assist the production team to easily identify attendees when delivering messages.

5. Kindly adhere to specified break durations considering the program schedule of the day. The Chairperson shall try his/her best to begin all sessions on the scheduled time.

6. Kindly wait until the end of each presentation for the Question & answer (Q&a) session, the Chairperson shall give an opportunity to raise the questions. Also please introduce yourself and the organization you represent prior to raising a query.

Khalid abdullah al-luhaidan, Director, Aluminum External Affairs, Aluminum SBU, Maaden , KSA

Khalid has been leading the launch of the aluminum business, for first time

in Saudi Arabia, which is considered the largest aluminum complex in a

single country in the world with an announced budget of almost $11Billion.

For many products, during his work both in Maaden & SABIC, he led the

strategic planning and business developments, applying a global mind

set, with recognition of the market input. Early in his career, he started to

work in R&D environment which helped in building up scientific approach,

followed by his work in a plant at Yanbu-red Sea, and then moved to

the business side where he worked in marketing, product management ,

strategy & business development, and lately top leadership of the business.

That has enabled him to go across all essential functions of the business.

Lately, In addition to the Aluminum External Affairs Eng. Khalid Al -Luhaidan

has leave assigned to lead the Technology Functions in Maaden.

Richard Mayenknecht, Director of Metal Supply, Ma‘aden aluminum Company, KSa

Richard Mayenknecht has been the Director of Metal Supply for Ma’aden

Aluminium Company in Saudi Arabia since 2013. Richard holds an MBA

from University of Cincinnati, a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science

from Brock University in Canada and a Chemical Engineering Degree from

Sheridan College in Toronto, Canada. Richard was the North American

Commercial Lead for Alcoa Recycling in the USA, prior to joining the

Ma’aden-Alcoa Joint Venture. Prior to Alcoa, Richard was a Commercial

Manager with Evermore Recycling an Alcoa-Novelis JV, and worked with

David J Joseph-Nucor Steel as a Metal Purchasing Manager.

Marwan Rizkallah Project Manager LEPAP at Undp

Marwan Rizkallah is a senior regional environmental expert based in

Lebanon holding a Masters in Environment and Water Resources from AUB

with significant experience in the field of environmental engineering and

management. Currently, he is a UNDP Project Manager for the Lebanon

Environmental Pollution Abatement Project (LEPAP); he has been recently

key expert for the Union for Mediterranean (UfM) on the Update of Priority

Investment Projects for Protecting the Mediterranean Sea from Pollution and

the national expert for SWEEP-NET in Lebanon in addition to his previous

involvement in several local and regional environmental consultancies.

Mr. Muhammad asim Baig Group Business Process Reengineering Manager abdulla Fouad Holding Co.

Mr. Muhammad Asim Baig is a Senior Management Consultant, Trainer,

Auditor and a frequent speaker in national and international conferences

with expertise in Strategic management, Quality management, Six

Sigma, Environment, Health, Safety, Food safety and HR. He has executed

and supervised more than 100 administrative consultations and trained

more than 4,000 delegates in many fields like Operations Reengineering,

Comprehensive Quality Management, Quality and Administrative Systems

Designing and Analysis, and Strategi c Planning & Human Resources. He

is internationally certified consultant and auditor by leading certification

bodies for applying different management standards. He has Master’s

Degree in Business Administration with bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.

He is certified Lead auditor by IRCA, UK and American Society of Quality, USA.

He is Six Sigma Green Belt. ARAMCO SAP number 70015602 Equipped with

a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in

Mechanical Engineering Asim has a passion towards Continuous Education

in the field of Quality, Management and HR. Asim is currently the President

of Middle East Quality Management Professionals a Senior Member of

American Society of Quality in USA. He is also a member of International

Register of Certified Auditors in UK and an active member Saudi Arabian

Quality Council, Certified Quality Auditor ASQ – USA, Certified Quality

Lead Auditor IRCA – UK and a Certified Environment Lead Auditor. His

publications include Six Sigma movement in KSA, ISO 9000 and Balance

Scorecard and the new upcoming standard of ISO 9000 . A well received

research on a comparison between ISO 9000 and Six Sigma was published

in the 11th Annual Edition of the ISO magazine published by Saudi Gazette

in June this year.

dr. Bassam S Tawabini Director, Environment and Sustainability King Fahd University of petroleum & Minerals

Dr. Tawabini is an Assistant Professor at the Earth Sciences Department

of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran,

Saudi Arabia. He hold Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering in the area of Water

resources and Environmental Engineering since 2002. He also assumes

the position of the director of the Environment & Sustainability at the EHS

department of KFUPM. He and his team is working on an initiave to turn

KFUPM into a green university. Dr. Tawabini is currently teaching a number

of graduate courses in the Master Program in Environmental Sciences such

as environmental chemistry, waste management, environmental pollution

and environmental impact assessment. Dr. Tawabini has supervised many

Master theses in the area of environmental sciences and engineering.

Between 1987-2007, Dr. Tawabini worked as a senior research engineer

in the Center for Environment & Water at the Research Institute of KFUPM

where he managed many projects in environmental pollution assessment

and control. His research interest focuses on the assessment, monitoring

and remediation of water, groundwater and soils contaminated with

hazardous pollutants. He also ineterested in the waste management

policies and practices for public and private industries. Dr. Al-Tawabini has

authored/co-authored over seventy five (75) technical papers in refereed

journals and conference proceedings. He is also a member of a number of

scientific national and international scientific societies.

Kalle Hashmi is Head Capacity Building at the International Renewable

Energy Agency (IRENA). Mr Hashmi has worked for more than 20 years

at the Swedish Energy Agency, where he represented Sweden at the

European Commission, International Energy Agency (IEA), and United

Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). Mr Hashmi is also an Associate

Professor at the Royal Technical University, Sweden.

Rehan ahmed, Supreme council of environment - Kingdom of Bahrain, Head of Waste Disposal

Engineer Rehan Ahmed is currently working as Head of Waste Disposal

Unit at the Supreme Council for Environment, Kingdom of Bahrain. He is

an Environmental and Sanitary Engineer by profession having educational

qualifications of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and has earned two Master

of Science degrees in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering from the

Netherlands. He has over thirty three years of professional experience

on projects related to waste management & environmental impacts

assessments. He has been instrumental in construction, development,

operation and management of Hafira industrial landfill site and

establishment of healthcare waste treatment facility in Bahrain. Eng. Rehan

Ahmed has working experience in Bahrain, Pakistan and the Netherlands.

He has authored two books on ‘Waste Rubber Recycling’ and ‘Compost and

its Utilization’, in addition to a number of technical papers and conducting

seminars and workshops.

professor. joseph V Thanikal Research Professor – Scientific Research Caledonian College of Engineering

Professor. Dr. Joseph V THANIKAL., Ph D. is currently working as Research

professor at Caledonian College Of Engineering, Sultanate of Oman. He

has 3 decades of academic and research experience in engineering and

research institution. He has been consultant for industries and for many

social organizations. He has obtained his basic engineering in Civil

Engineering and specialized in Environmental Biotechnology. He was

awarded postdoctoral fellowship from 2003-2005, by Institute National de

la Recherché Agronomique (INRA), France. He is a member of Canadian

Council of Professional Engineers, Canadian Environmental practitioner

in education and research by CECAB, Society of Chemical industry SCI,

International Water Association (IWA), and life member of Indian Society

of Technical Education and served as scientific committee member for

several international conferences. He is serving as technical reviewer

for international journals in the area of anaerobic digestion and Aerobic

treatment of wastewater. He has research interest in anaerobic digestion

and aerobic treatment (SBR) of wastewater, hydrodynamic studies in

bio-reactors and energy from biomass, solid waste management. He has

a Patent for inventing procedure for “Method for purifying effluent in an

anaerobic fixed bed reactors using non-clogging support”, - 2007 the

patent was awarded by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The Patent has been registered in PCT courtiers, US and Canada. He has

a National award by Indian Society of Technical Education, for Innovative

research work in Engineering -2006 to his credit. He is Principal Investigator

for INDO-FRENCH projects, and for project awarded by The Research

Council of Oman.

dr. abdul-Sattar nizami, Assistant Professor, Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies (CEES), King abdul aziz University, KSa

Dr. Abdul-Sattar Nizami has a PhD in green grass: developing grass for

sustainable gaseous biofuel (2008-2011). He has published more than

50 papers in the areas of biofuels, waste-to-energy, bioproducts and

biorefineries in high impact ISI Journals. His work has been cited over 800

times in the peer review press. He is the reviewer and guest editor of journals

like Biotechnology for biofuels, Biofuels, bioproducts and biorefineries,

Bioresource technology, Energy, Bioprocess and biosystems engineering and

International journal of life cycle assessment. He is the reviewer, guest editor

and invited speaker for many national and international conferences. He

has worked in the Dept. of Chemical Eng. & Applied Chemistry and Civil

Eng., of University of Toronto, Canada as a Postdoctoral Fellow, Course

Builder and Teaching Assistant. Currently, he is working and leading the

solid waste group at the Center of Excellence in Environmental Studies

(CEES) of King Abdul Aziz University, Saudi Arabia as an Assistant Professor

and Principal Investigator.
